Top Gear NOT growing on me.
The hosts don't have chemistry at all.
The main guy is especially annoying. Almost as bad are the promos for American Picker that waltz across the bottom of the screen periodically. Where was the 'something fast' for the Stig to wring out? I liked the latest episodes 'feature' with the GM cars, a good idea, but see my host comment above. Could have been better. The main guy, the supposed comic, is not funny, not relevant, who is the audience for this show? I'll still watch, I want it to work, it's just not there yet.

I agree that it's not coming together.
I'll give it the full season, but the host chemistry is horrible. |

It's getting better with each episode, but it has a LONG way to go. I think a host change will be required for it to succeed, honestly Tanner is the only one that doesn't come across as a fool. Seriously, do the other two know anything about cars? They need somebody dynamic to lead the show, Adam Corolla would be perfect. They also need to drop a segment, trying to cram 1 hour of content into the American 40 minutes (after commercials) makes the news and interview into a joke.

Jumping the shark every week gets old fast.
Isn't it supposed to be about cars? |

I think it is getting better each week. It's not great yet, but I see the potential. For now I DVR it and watch it at my leisure. Someday it may be good enough to catch when it airs. Someday...

Same here..
I didn't like that Jason guy on the first season of the BBC version either, but Clarkson and Hammond made up for it. The clowns on the USA version just don't have the chemistry. They better change personal. Quick...........

The challenges were filmed earlier this year, while the stage stuff seems to be from October on. Not sure how it's getting better and their chemistry can only get better while they film in the studio.

I'm not sure who decided on these hosts...they are awkward and almost painful to watch. I find myself hoping things will go smoother each episode, but they never really do. It all seems so forced...

I like it! But I can see how the show wouldn't satisfy some elitists...

I'm going to keep watching it because they do occasionally drive something cool, but I'll be surprised if it gets any better without a change of the hosts. If Tanner says "gai-normous" one more time... And none of them really come up with anything interesting to say most of the time. I saw a show (or read an article) with Clarkson one time where he said that most of their jobs is about thinking up clever stuff to say/write that hasn't been done to death. To me, all three of the guys from the UK do a pretty decent job of saying stuff that's interesting while allowing their personality to show through. The US cast doesn't seem to have much personality, and they don't seem to say much that's interesting.

I don't mind tanner and Adam. But to get me hooked they need to do two things. They need to do something original. Too many of their stunts are too much of a rip off. And they need to ditch Rutledge Wood. Hes just a blundering idiot, and not funny at all.

I don't always agree with Clarkson, but at least he seems natural and unforced...the American hosts act like they have cue cards in front of them...it's very depressing for our nation as a whole

They don't seem like car guys.
Yep, whether it's the dialog or the challenges, it all seems pretty forced. The hosts don't really seem like car guys. They don't seem to have any passion about cars. Jeremy, Hamster and even Captain Slow all have their own passions, and it comes through. I totally buy the three of them sitting around in pubs discussing cars over a pint. The three guys in the US, just can't picture it. In the UK version in the challenges and driving footage, there are times where you know that stuff is scripted even though it's not supposed to look like it, but it still comes off as a pretty good job of it. In the US version, it's much more transparent. I will say that I was surprised at the "Star in a Cheap Car" with Kid Rock. Not that he's a rocket scientist, but he certainly wasn't what I was expecting. He seemed pretty down to earth, and his passion for classic cars was cool. I think he'd make a better host than the other three.

I can't stay up on Sunday night to watch the show so I have been catching the reruns during the week. I don't find myself "wanting" to watch it, though.

Agreed. They really seem to struggle with things to say when they are driving the cars. Sometimes I imagine they've got an ear piece in one ear with some writer in a room with no windows feeding them lines.

I've watched the originals and ive seen this version and I really like this version yea the hosts need to gain a bit of chemistry together but they've only done a few shows so far. What gets me is people complaining that it's not like the original. well it's not and never will be it will always be the american version and Im happy with that, It's the same when people complain that the new camaro or the challenger aren't like the originals well they arent and if they were made the same way it would only be a direct copy. It's the best american car show we have thus far so i will keep watching and enjoying
