So maybe the Sun is God and in its infinite wisdom it is manipulating us and other life forms by way of various forms of radiation? What a very interesting premise for a story!

Turns out the guy was a JPL physicist who had done a series wherein he tried to bring together Old Testamentl stories and science. In the episode I watched he proposed that the long lives (hundreds of years for some?) might, while exaggerated, be atributable to increased radiation from an exploding star (or something like that) that astronomers say occurred at a time when such effects could have effected humans living in those times. He described that radiation, while thought by laymen to always be harmful to life, is actually necessary for there to be life. I think he also made regerence to Goliath as possibly being one of many people of that size who may have lived then, their size being related to the high radiation. He went on to relate the decline of the radiation over time with scientific statistics relating to humans over the years. I found it really fascinating. The guy was obviously a prettty smart cookie and wasn't preaching at all. I tried to find the other programs in the series, but wasn't able to. I'd completely forgotten about it until now.
