Low standards.

McLovin 01-04-2011 11:31 AM

Social experiment.

Shaun @ Tru6 01-04-2011 11:34 AM

Oh please Shaun! Standards? Standards are limitations - the essential criteria needed to establish the status quo of performance. A standard ensures uniformity and seamless replace ability. Lets put things into perspective. This video was not made for general distribution. It was intended for the sole purpose of entertaining the sailors only. And save for a few 'sensitive' types it did just that. The officers I have known are as filthy in private as you can imagine but in public they are true gentlemen. So is the same for many.

Why do we have to think that private activity has to translate over to public image? Isn't that what the whole gay shyt in the armed forces is about? The liberals want gays to openly serve yet they don't want off-color videos or comments to be made? Why? Is it offensive?

Well I think its pretty F***'n offensive to see two men kiss but guess what, when it happens I look the other way and think "oh well". If people find something offensive why can't they just turn away and let it pass. It exsists for a reason...like being gay. It is what it is. If your into, fine, if your not...fine.

That would be because we (the public) expect them to be professional. If we expected our senior military officers to behave they're living in Animal House then this would be not big deal. If it was an enlisted man who did it, it would be no big deal. But this clown is the second in command of an aircraft carrier. I'm with Shaun on this one. I don't expect leaders to act like children.

Leaders paid for with public taxes.

Standards, Professionalism, Accountability. They form a feedback loop/cycle that yields Excellence.

And like I said, this wasn't for public distribution. I do not think this guy would act like D-Day in public. What goes on behind closed doors should stay there.

Wow! You guys have a real pie-eyed view of the world! This video falls into the personal realm. If it didn't, the maker (XO) would have sent it to C-Span and FOX.

Do ya really think there isn't a difference between personal / private and public persona?

But I wonder what devilish things the Kennedy's et al did behind closed doors? While we are at it, lets turn up the lights on all leaders and those in power positions shall we?

I got news for ya, the 'cleaner' someone appears outside the more dirty they are inside. Que Hoover at any point. Beware of a person who doesn't tell an off-color or raunchy joke from time to time or display a social fault. That tells me they have some serious hard-core shyt going on inside or they are trying to fool me or worse, themselves.

Never trust a man that has never lied, cheated or stolen. He has, he is just to darn good at it to be caught.

Racerbvd 01-04-2011 11:58 AM

Wow, you guys didn't feel the same way when President Clinton was getting Blown in the Oval office by an intern....

Did the CO screw up, yes, does someone else have an agenda, that is why this was blasted all over the media:mad:

You should invest in robots than because that is not human nature and it never will be.

Keep going on that thought and you just as well instill Sharia into the military and public office. Is that what you want?

Shaun @ Tru6 01-04-2011 12:00 PM

Lol!

M.D. Holloway 01-04-2011 12:02 PM

I wasn't a Clinton fan but I lost all respect when he just didn't NUT UP and say, yup, I inhaled and got some great skull. But again, like I said, the cleaner on the outside the dirtier on the inside.

Oh ya, please don't pull in examples of a Grandmother, Father or who ever. I know Gammy was a saint and Daddy never would ever look at a pic of a nakid pin-up girl and the CO you served under never used a swear word...

Cracking raunchy jokes in private is different from recording and broadcasting them to 6000 people. You don't have to be very smart to realize that this may get you in trouble. I would expect someone in charge of an aircraft carrier to be able to anticipate the outcome of their actions a little better - next time it may be those 6000 lives at stake when the guy makes the wrong call. This is why he has to go IMHO.

I'm not sure how this is a liberal vs. conservative debate...to me it's a question of good leadership. Also, a "private" video isn't exactly private when it goes out to an entire ship from E-1 to O-6. The XO is responsible for routine operations and discipline on the ship, which is pretty hard to do when you are perceived as a clown...

quicksix 01-04-2011 12:14 PM

Taken in context this was a parody at best, not meant for public consumption.
Taken out of context, distributed to the media and broadcast around the world,he comes off like an irresponsible D##k.
Which he is not.

M.D. Holloway 01-04-2011 12:15 PM

Perhaps we should have some of the active and retired officers chime in?

Rikao4 01-04-2011 12:17 PM

so for fun we will have a fruit tossing contest on the fantail..
