It is harmless entertainment to watch the Royals. I have stumbled across Queen Liz three times over the years . . .

2003 in front of the palace . . . she was out for a carriage ride with her new pal Vlad. They put on a good show.

Are we really any better? Look at the way we worship and idolize celebrities... look at the tabloids while waiting at the check out stand that bombard us with all the latest marriages, break ups, makeups.

And some have no talent and are just famous for being famous.

And no I will not be watching... might stop by while channel surfing out of morbid curiosity.

Wife's friend is DVRing it and they are going to have a proper tea party... I'm not invited... hurray!

Hey; what the heck - it's interesting and tied to the history of the world.

No harm in it I think but I'm not watching with any sort of anticipation. I do love a good party though...

Billy better enjoy that while he can. Couple of kids and the only thing staying the same size will be above the shoulders and below the knees.

Also - I will add this - might be idealistic but I hope they make it for the sake of seeing some folks in their positions make it.

My sentiments exactly.
My SO says we all need a little romance and fantasy in our lives. I don't disagree. For her it's watching royals (she is from a country that still has a king and queen). For me it's doing a DE on a track that Mark Donohue, Denny Hume, and George Follmer drove on.

No problems. Just be glad that women who have kids don't hold the father of their children to such crazy standards.

Yes my wife put on 15 lbs since we married. I put on 30 since my days are no longer free to workout at all hours. We do our best.

Possibly the rule, but I married and exception.
125 lbs when we married, went to 115 after our son was born and has stayed there for the last 30 years. (vegetarian, non-smoker, no pics for you guys)

As for William and Kate, the refrain from The Wall keeps running through my mind:
"Leave those kids alone"

William and Harry have been in the 'rescue business' for a while. I remember reading an article somewhere about ten years ago, about a motorist whose car has stalled on a motorway in the greater London area. He was approached by a couple of young lads who helped him push his car to the shoulder. It was as he was pushing he realized the lads were the royal princes.

All the best to them, I say, but most of the world needs to get a life.
(This said by a fellow typing on the internet!)

The British are our strongest ally and this is a big deal to a large percent of their population. So while it is not a big deal personally, I will smile and "tip my hat" just as I would to a distant cousin. Good for them.

I did listen to the Opie and Anthony coverage of the wedding on my way to work this morning.

I saw some of it this morning. Thought it was kind of cool to see an event that will go down in history.

The last time something historic happened in my lifetime were 9/11 and that one space shuttle disintegrating (I forget the name...).

At least, this wedding is on a happier note.

(I suppose you can also count Obama getting elected, but I hate politics and couldn't care less about it, even though I voted)

I watched it live. The HD quality was unbelievably good. I thought it was a good ceremony, even though it wasn't Scotch Presbyterian.
