How often do you take apart your gas bbq for a depp cleaning?
Never . Just clean the catch pan regularly. Change parts as they break. Wipe the outsides every use
|
stopped having to do this when I bought the green egg...but when I had to (at least once a year) would finish cleaning by putting the rocks on top of the grate and letting her rip...lots of smoke rolling out until the rocks get back to baseline.
|
Only done it once. Take the grill and the SS drip cover off the burner. It takes about 30 seconds. That exposes everything. Spray a thick layer (the non smell, good for the earth formula does not work) of Easyoff and come back in 45 minutes and hose away. reinstall in 2 minutes. Same treatment with the drip tray.

Once a year, with several clean-ups during the course of the year. I mean, hey, I'm cooking food on this thing. Why wouldn't I want to keep it clean?
|
We use ours 2 to 4 times a week. I have replaced 3 burner tubes in the last year. Have to clean the bottom catch pan every month. Well worth the effort when you consider how much use Iget out of it.

Real men use charcoal... and clean it when it needs it.
|
was cleaning mine the other day...looks like this will be the last summer. is is falling apart under neath. 10yr old charbroil
looking to go back to charcoal next year...looks like i have an excuse to get an old school weber now. my dads weber is at least 20-30yrs old. i think he cleans the grates a couple times a summer beyond that he dumps the coals before every use and thats it. |

My Weber is self-cleaning. When the stuff gets too thick, it burns itself off. |
How do you know when your grill "needs" cleaning? Serious question.
|
I have a six burner grill. Two of them have gaps where there should be an unbroken line of flames. Also, there's just a lot of build up in the pan just below the burner tubes.

get a bbq/grilling book and think out of the box. |
I clean my gas grill twice a year; once before Spring and once in November...or there abouts.
The grills are never too bad but the pan on the bottom of the burners accumulates a lot of droppings. If you keep on top of it, it will always fire up when you need it....Kind of like your P-car. |
Built in gas grill, good take apart cleaning once a year. Clean drip tray after each use, line it will foil so not too bad. Work great 6 year old.

I don't deep clean mine on a regular basis but did today. I've got a TEC Cherokee table top infrared grill that i absolutely love and use 2-3 times a week. Build quality is tremendous and although discontinued TEC still maintains parts inventory. Lots of elbow grease to clean the stainless parts - grill grates went through the oven cleaning cycle.

I grill with a Weber Genesis about 3x per week all year and it is mostly self cleaning. Every few years I take it apart for deep cleaning and to repair or replace flavor bars or cooking grate. It is now 15 years old and the burners and igniter are original.
|
I do mine once a century.
- I brush the grill surface each time, and the rubber hoses only last a few years. |
