About once every 2-3 years. Replace the burners then too.

When SHE THAT MUST BE OBAYED tells me to.

On Mark's recommendation I got some grill grates. I only got enough to cover half of my grill. I've had it for two years and with just the two of us I don't think I've ever used the left hand burner.

So I used them once so far and so far so good. I'm actually more interested in the ability to turn them over and use the back side like a perforated griddle for vegetables.

Huge case of OCD set in yesterday. The plan was to try to buff out some light scratches on the inside of the lid that have been bugging me. The grill is all aluminum. Ended up doing a full tear down and polish to mirror finish using Mother’s and a 5” foam pad on a random orbital buffer. Quite pleased with the results!

Very sad grill news to report. Several months ago I was using the grill to sear some steaks that I cooked Sous Vide. I also used my Grill Gun (propane flame thrower) to speed up the process which ignited the drip tray below the grates causing a huge grease fire. Flames shot up 2+ feet. Although you should never cook with the hood down on this infrared grill I had to shut it to keep from catching the patio umbrella that covers my grill table on fire. Pretty scary event. Lesson learned - keep the drip tray emptied.

The heat severely warped the hood. I've got a new hood on order and a deep cleaning and polishing on my to do list.

Never. I buy $250 grills and they last 2-3 years. Works out cheaper than the Weber we had for 12.

Dang, that's a bummer, Mark.

I have a similar TEC grill (G Sport) and love it. Certainly not cheap, but one of the finer things in life to appreciate and enjoy.

Please post many details and pics on your deep cleaning process. I.e. what scrubber you use, what cleaners, etc...

I keep mine pretty nice, but it is hard to keep up with consistently. I will be curious to see exactly what your process is since I have the same grill.

Thanks,

JA

Will do. Just waiting for my new hood to arrive before getting started. Got this status update on the part order. How great is this customer service?

"We have been advised by the manufacturer that since the grill has been discontinued they stopped manufacturing this specific part however they are going to make one for you since this was not passed on and we are working to remove it from the site moving forward.

It will take about 2 weeks for it to get cut, formed, assembled and polished. Tracking information will be provided by our shipping department as soon as it is available.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you, "
