We have a small Weber grill and clean it about once a year and use safety wire to poke through all the gas holes to clean them out. It works so much better afterwards. I just put a new burner on after 5 or 6 years because it was starting to corrode on the ends. Piezo start still works great and grill works awesome again.
It gets used several times a day because each of the kids cook burgers and dogs on it and wife cooks chicken and veggies on it.

Funny this thread is resuscitated.......I did a deep cleaning on my toaster oven last night.

Wasn't sure it would even work again after I blasted so much water into it.

Fired right up this morning and love how clean it is again!

Grill hasn't been cleaned in a while.....

Goo Gone Foam cleaner works great.

I just used my husqvarna 3100 pressure washer to take the crud off my BBQ grill on Sunday (about twice a year), and keep a cover on it.

Only when it breaks.

once a year. spring time.

my gas grill; maybe its the cheap grill cover i bought..but all winter long during the rains, it gets damp inside the grill and it develops this yellow stuff all along the interior. i take it all apart, wire brush it and re-line my drip trap with heavy duty alum foil, replace the grease drip pan..while it is apart, i will soap it all down with dish soap and hose it out.

my grill is a SS Weber Genesis. my Weber kettle, no..i dont really clean it beyond the ash dump and brush.

I clean my Weber Summit burners, below the burners and drip tray each spring. If I use smoking chips in the tray, I might clean the bottom of the grill out mid summer. My grill stays in the garage and is only outside when it's being used.

This stuff is the schnitt for cutting crease. Great for grill maintenance. Used to find at Kroger. Cleaning products are scarce at the grocery stores these days. Found at Ace Hardware today as I was about out.

Never, Once or twice a season I clean the drip pan. Turn the burners on high a few minutes before cooking to burn off the crusties before a good brushing and that's it.

Huge case of OCD set in yesterday. The plan was to try to buff out some light scratches on the inside of the lid that have been bugging me. The grill is all aluminum. Ended up doing a full tear down and polish to mirror finish using Mother’s and a 5” foam pad on a random orbital buffer. Quite pleased with the results!

You will love it. Get some Grill Grates for it and ditch the grate that comes with it - they are impossible to keep clean. Ive got Grill Grates on all my grills. Suggest cutting the end above the drip tray at a 45 degree angle on the bottom removing about a 1/4 inch so that grease will drip in the pan vs running down the back panel.

Thanks for the pro-tip on the Grill Grates. I have them on my RecTec smoker for searing and they are amazing.

Any pics of the 45 degree cut you are recommending so I can get a sense of what you are talking about?

I bought three 5” panels and one 2” spacer panel and cut to size to fit the Cherokee. Clipped the bottom at a 45 degree angle using a metal cutoff blade in the miter saw. Pretty much eliminated grease running down the back panel. You will be amazed how little grease and ash collect in the drip tray!

Weber genesis here. Completely agree with the grill grates, I cut mine the same way.
Grill is about 4years old. Gets actually cleaned about once a year. Grates get scraped and burnt off after every cook.
I just had to replace the entire manifold. I called weber. A real human being answered the phone. They asked appropriate questions. The hardest thing was finding the serial number, which is well hidden. All parts available. All under warranty. I had a box at the door in 4 days. Weber is a company that still understands service, although my newer 4 year old grill is not as sturdy as my older models.
Took about 2 hours to replace. The first 90 minutes I tried following instructions- which were pretty bad. Said the heck with it and just did what looked logical- was done in 30minutes. Works like a charm.

My quick post cook cleaning routine usually in the AM while making coffee is a rinse an scrub of the grates in the kitchen sink with a small stainless brush then I remove the back panel and rinse off then a quick wipe down of the rest of the shiney bits! John, another pro tip on the Cherokee - replace the 4 back panel schoor nuts with rivnuts - makes back panel removal for cleaning a breeze.

Excellent call on the Riv-nuts!!

Thanks for the tips!
