That's a pretty clean looking quick-stitch Eric.

You could put the high res image in Dropbox, https://www.dropbox.com/, and send the link in a pm to Dottore.

The Bar Highlander, at the Hotel Okura in Tokyo. 200+ single malts, some exclusive.

The Bar at the Highlands Inn, Carmel, CA. Have an evening sip & watch the fog roll in from the Pacific. No more romantic place in my travels.

You are right. I love the Highlands Inn. The bar and views are amazing.

Szimpla - Budapest. What a vibe. Grungy, but not dirty, reused items wherever possible, some of the most eclectic people in Budapest, a collage or melting pot of disparate things from *everywhere*. There is alcohol, but it is not about the taste of this or that type, here.

Right you are. Many others as well, that got in & out quietly - no pun intended. It is now a Hyatt property, I suppose that is good. Everything there was top shelf, food, service, rooms, views, even the air had extra oxygen, I think...

I don't know why, but to me, there's something irresistible about the ambience that place exudes that would suck me right in off the sidewalk if I tried to walk on by.

Budapest is on my list of places to visit (I'm part Hungarian).

Those are not bars. Those are places to get a drink. IMHO a bar has neon, pool tables, a bartender who can hook you up (if you dont know, dont ask), a toilet you don't sit on, cigarette machine, pinball and a jukebox with a playlist appropriate for the surroundings. I'm seeing flowers and centerpieces at some of the "bars" listed above. Not feeling it.

Sure they are. What you describe is a particular class of bar called a 'dive bar'.
