I'd agree that it looks like there wasn't enough hard evidence to convict, so in that sense it's arguably a good thing that the conviction was overturned. That said, I could only feel elated IF I felt strongly that she's innocent. But I don't.

Considering some in the US have spent over 20 years in prison before being freed of crimes they didn't commit I wouldn't condemn Italy so strongly.

If she was convicted in Iran or China or some other country with an expedited sentencing system she may have been long-ago executed. Hard to appeal that.
Maybe this case should be referenced in the Capital Punishment thread?

Amanda Knox's footprint was found on the bloody floor of the bedroom... along with that of her "boyfriend" and the "drifter" Guede. That evidence was never refuted. First Knox said that she spent the night at her boyfriend's place, then later claimed she was there and heard her roommate scream, and she had to cover her ears. Then she tried to throw her employer, a local bar owner, under the bus by framing him. She had a long history of excessive drug and alcohol abuse and was describe by her college classmates as a troubled nympho. Seems likely to me that the sleazy bych, the boyfriend and Guede were all in in Manson style. Sure Guede probably "did the deed", but I'd bet that Knox (the 21st century Manson girl) and her boyfriend got off on "watching". Pretty sick, but that appears the most likely scenario. And to think that she'll rake in millions from the twisted groopies in this society that for some reason want to idolize her is even more depressing. Anyway, just my take...

Duh! She lives there. If she found the body, that would easily explain her bloody footprints being there. As far as the conflicting stories, I have no clue about those, but the fact is no one really knows one way or the other. |
