Aha. Another soul has been dragged back from the magic fruit.
Good for you, Todd. I am not a phone techie, so I will count on you to tell me what my phone will do . . . Ian

Preordered mine from Att last friday, and it hasn't even shipped....
I'm not happy. |

Might go check it out. If I can roll my (e) contract then it's a possibility but there's no freaking way I'm agreeing to a new 2-year contract with ATT or anyone else just to get one.

I've not seen a droid-type device I like yet for size/design/elegance/ergonomics that touches the iPhone. Some of them are pretty cool but others I've seen are just clunky/obnoxious. The iPhones screen size has never been a hinderance for anything I've ever wanted to do. |

You will have to agree to a contract with someone to get the 199, 299, 399 pricing. They are rolling out the no contract world phones in November. They will be like 649, 749, or 849....

Received mine yesterday at 11 am - still cannot activate. 19 hours and counting. A trip to ATT store resulted in nothing - they are blaming it on Apple's servers. A call to ATT support yielded zero. ATT pushed me off to Apple support but they are closed.
Fun stuff

And just think - you just signed a 2-year deal with them!
I'd take it back and return it for that - and tell them to stuff any "early termination fees" up their keisters as they're in breach of contract.

Got one yesterday. Kind of funny as I really am sort of a luddite. My office is terminating the Blackberry server so I need to move to the iphone to pick up emails.
It is a lovely product. I haven't got Siri to work yet at my house. Not sure if this is a Sprint thing but it says that it can't connect to the network? Other than that, it seems pretty great. Larry |

Mine is supposed to be delivered today. I will probably miss it while I'm at my kid's soccer game.
Woe is me.

Just received my 4S yesterday and luckily I was able to activate through AT&T without any problem. So far Siri really does impress with its ability to understand natural language commands, but it seems to be having some trouble connecting to the server this morning. I guess everyone with a 4S is messing with Siri all at once. At any rate, it's a huge upgrade from my 3GS.

Went to the apple store and they gave me a different phone. Activated in seconds. Guess I got a bad one.
AT&T and Apple told me to wait and keep trying to activate. Glad I never believe anything people tell me. |

I'm curious to check out SIRI.
I started playing with voice recognition on computers back in the 90's and it just felt really strange to sit in my office talking to no one. |

Can't get Siri to work, must be down. Apple told me this morning they are having server troubles.

NLR is great for when your hands are doing other things or when you're in your car, etc. And it is mission critical for aspects of our virtual human work. But for sending a message using your phone while sitting at a train station or at lunch? Not so much... |

Wait until you hit 50 ![]() Apple still wins for industrial design. But it also depends on what you're used to. It was interesting to watch my colleague yesterday who was coming from a BB. She was having a tough time figuring out how to get around the iPhone. Once I showed her some things she got it, but even after being on an Android for a couple of weeks I actually felt a bit odd on the iPhone - was looking for the menu button. Go check out the latest Samsungs, and it will be interesting to see the new Nexus in the next week or two. The good thing about Apple in the marketplace is that the other manufacturers love to copy. My Galaxy S2, while a large form factor, is fairly elegant in its design. These are not the bricks from five years ago... |

I discovered that with swype you don't need to add the space manually - just pause between words and it will add it automatically. And you can alternate between swyping and regular typing with no issue.Beyond that it really is just getting the home screens set up with widgets and shortcuts that you want/use then you're good to go. No need to scroll through anything. My g/f is addicted to the game Alchemy. And Calvin desperately wants Minecraft for his phone. I'm looking to keep mine game-free... |
