Great score. I have been looking for years for one.

I do wish someone would bootleg some up; and I really don't support that infringement. But maybe in this case.

I have one for sale if someone is interested, the very bottom few mm of the edge got a bit scraped in storage, but should look fine when mounted or slightly trimmed if you deside not to frame. This poster has been rolled in storage since new, never mounted, no pin holes. Looks great. Accepting offers.

keep an eye on evilbay; I just snagged one for $39. They do show up occasionally; but usually disappear fast.

That poster is probably one of the reasons why I subconsciously lusted after a Targa for many years, and why I succumbed to the impulse buy of my '75.

Impressionable youth!

Great ad campaign. I had one on my bed room wall when I was 17 too !

Might still be rolled up in a tube along with all my other Porsche posters from when I was a kid. I used to order the factory posters for $20.00 a pop back in the early 80's...still have a few of those.

They are bootlegged/reproduced and sold on ebay all the time.

In fact, the one the original poster in this thread bought is a reproduction/bootleg.

If you look at the feedback of the seller that the thread starter bought from, you'll see that he puts another one up every few weeks or so. He doesn't list a bunch of them all at one time, because that would make the scam too obvious.

Decent little bit of pocket change, though, making $40-$80 a pop on a $5 reproduced poster month in and month out.

you got me wondering so i asked the (current) seller on ebay bout the poster. i was told that they are indeed original posters from the 80s that were supplied to a record store he owned. now, do i believe him? not really.

Just stumbled across this old thread, agin. It seemed of value to point out that there is a difference between the Maxell Targa advertising poster and the Steve Steigman (the photographer) Targa art poster (examples of both in this thread). Steigman was also the photographer for the classic man in the chair "Blown Away" poster/ad. With regards to the Steigman Weaver Gallery art poster, there seems to be a difference between the white bordered and the grey bordered prints in value and collectibility. I did find an art print with grey background on ebay not long after the OP.

I have the Porsche Targa poster

I have the Maxell poster, given to me by a Maxell employee in the early 1980's and stored since around 1988. I was searching for information on it when I came across this forum. My plan is to post it to eBay sometime in the next few days.
