I bought the P35 to shoot, so what did you do (if anything) to make yours shoot?

Loaded WWB in the magazine, racked the slide and squeezed the trigger

Later

I had a trigger job done, ramps polished and the frame tightened, by a local gun smith. I also put a Huage Grip on it

Henry - both great pistolas.

I love my GP35. Truly a great design (once you yank the magazine disconnect out of there).

My 100th Anniv. Colt Defender (.45) ran great out of the box but I've done a little tweaking on it since. Key was getting rid of the "ducktail" grip safety and putting in a Wilson beavertail. The ducktail is great for me on a full-size 1911 but is terrible for deep concealment. I'll also add that Colt did a less-than-stellar job of fitting the original GS to the frame. Yours looks like the standard beavertail. I'm not sure how Colt decides whether to use the beaver or ducktail?

I also replaced the plastic MSH with an alloy one, put in a flat trigger, added a heavily bobbed ambi thumb safety, and put on a pair of slim grips from VZ.

It's my first lightweight 1911 and now has me thinking of getting a lightweight Commander and bobtailing it. My typical carry is a Dan Wesson bobtail but it seems to get heavier every year...

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

The Defender is what it is but I need the P35 to shoot a lot better than it did out of the box.

They better be "great pistolas" because I gave up a great Norwegian 1914 (Nazi 1911) for them.

Both arrived home.

First impressions:

The SIG just looks so well made. They always do. The KHAR is well made as well, but I do not like to way the magazine doesn't snap snuggly into the bottom. Maybe there is a different magazine. With the 7 Round magazine, it doesn't do this.

The SIG's slide is wider, as it the grip. The Grip is also bigger front to back. And the back of the grip almost has no rake to it. I do like how the slide lock is pretty tight to the slide. As small as this pistol feels, the grip feels large by diameter. But you can still only get 2 fingers on the grip. It somehow doesn't feel natural.

On the Kahr, the slide and grip are slimmer and there isn't as much meat front to back on the grip. The grip has a fairly normal rake to it. It fits very naturally. Made it is the size of my hand and fingers.

Both have very stout springs and are pretty tough to rack. Both also are pretty tough to release from being locked back. I'm used to a nice smooth release on the 1911s and the High Power. I need to get my other SIG out and see how that releases. I don't remember my P239 being tough to release.

So, for looks and function, the SIG. From grip feel, the Khar.
