Tech is a big boy, he mentioned it wasn't up to the authors usual standards. I tossed it across the room and knocked over a espresso. Cost me 30 bucks to replace that library book.

Just finished The Survivor a Vince Flynn novel by Kyle Mills. I dropped a whopping $16.04 for the ebook because it kept showing up on my recommended list.
This is book 12 of the Mitch Rapp series. Spoiler - Mitch once again manages to save the world in the end, but it held my interest because of what's going on in Paris right now.
Kyle Mill's Rapp takes the old Mitch and strips him of any personality he had, and turns him into a virtual robot (figuratively).

Lee,

Because of this post, I decided to try out one of your niece's books, Wicked As They Come. Pretty good for the genre. I have downloaded the second in the series. Reminded me of the Bloodborne game in the way the characters are described.

Wondered how that was, after Vince died a couple years ago... who is Kylie Mills?

Shout out for David McCullough's The Wright Brothers.
I visited Kitty Hawk this May, so this book held my interest. It dispelled many of the false-ism I had about Wilbur & Orville. They were the real deal.

I have a sister who speaks three languages fluently and has been a VORACIOUS reader for the past forty years. When we were teens, she would listen to hard rock music, rock in our father's rocking chair, and read Russian novels. War And Peace, etc.

Anyhoo....I asked her recently what is the best book she ever read. Don't you think that's a good question? Without hesitation she said Les Miserables. And so I read it. And then I read it again. I plan to read it more times.

If you like fantasy there are few books as good as the "A Song of ice and fire" series by George RR Martin.

I really liked Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield. You really feel like you are marching into battle with the Spartans.

Also, Go Like Hell by AJ Baime

Cool - so it wasn't just me digging his style in the Pacific northwest.
Couple of other un-mined gems that were also made into flicks.
Mystic River
Sutter Island

(Sutter Island is the only book I've read that gave me a nightmare and a wakeup in a cold panting sweat)

That and the boy can write.

Part of the content of the novel, WWII interment of Japanese in the U.S., is very dear to me - my best friend growing up parents were both interred.

He dealt with in such an outstanding way. Again, thanks. This thread is great.

Mystic River is up next.

I just finished "Wright Brothers". Good book, concise and to the point. Mystic River is great, you'll love it.

"The Art of Racing in the Rain". Garth Stein. Racing a Porsche in the perspective of a dog's observation. P-car and a dog story. Pretty good.

Now that I have a little time on my hands, (been advised to rest a bit) I'm going to reread the first book I ever read Charles Dickens "David Copperfield" a weird choice I know but still IMO a good read.

Not a weird choice at all, and you should also reread A Christmas Carol.

There's a reason Dickens has stood the test of time.....

And while you're in there, a quick, good reread would be "The Old Man and the Sea". Nobody turns a phrase like Ernie.
