I saw him during the '76 Wings Tour. He had the venue rocking. But like the rest of the 'old' rock/pop bands: he should retire & spend his money now.

I don't think I could do a ranking. George provided the ethereal side to the band and wrote (among others):

Taxman (opens Revolver - seriously rocks)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (with Clapton doing the solo)
Something
Here Comes the Sun

Those alone eclipse most musicians output.

First
He isn't dismissed by those that have a clue. One reason that he often doesn't get mentioned though is that he really didn't play "bass". Instead, he made music, and for some songs he happened to have a bass in his hands. His approach is often very much like a sung line, and he tends to carry melody and counterpoint rather than a more traditional bass line or groove.

It is part of what made their music different, and why they will endure long beyond other "rock" bands. The wrote songs and conveyed ideas rather than played instruments together.

Maybe I'm Amazed.

Nuff said. Possibly in the best two or three songs of all time.

Paul.

1962. Some very cool and funny stuff going on in this tune. always loved that 'hey man save one chick for me'...the talent of these young kids blows my mind compared to what gets accepted today as good

i purchased the George Harrison film Tuesday when it came out...although i can pass over George's solo work except for the Travelling Willburys stuff, I thought it was quite good. Didnt like that MS chose to include interview clips that are already included in the Beatles Anthology film but i can forgive that i guess

Worth getting if your a Beatles fan
