I'm not anti-hunting, although I don't consider sitting in a tree stand with a hangover 'hunting'. What I'm talking about is as others have said, sport killing. Prairie dogs, crows, coyotes and the like. i've yet to see a prairie dog roast at any grocery store. I know a lot of folks eat crow but I don't think they need to be killed to do it. I read or heard somewhere that homo sapiens are the only beast that hunts for sport, wouldn't doubt it.
I'm with you Noah, hell I pickup earth worms that are on the driveway after a rain and put them back on the lawn.

love fishing. obsessed with it. going tarpon fishing in florida next week. i HATE when a fish dies because of me. it ruins my day and makes me think i did something wrong but thats how you learn how to do it correctly. for some reason i can not find pleasure in killing animals or fish but i do love fighting them and hooking them in the mouth.....strange contradiction i guess. makes no sense to me and seems quite selfish but i learn to live with it. i never claimed to be perfect

WE DO LIVE to DRINK BEER on a nice 115degree F day! and eat jalapenos and tacos!

just so ya know, some of the best salmon, lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, walleye, pike and bass fishing in the WORLD can be found in the beautiful state of new york where i grew up around passionate turkey hunters and deer hunters and at one time...pheasant and grouse hunters....and down there on long island where i lived for a bit, youll find some of the best striper fishing anywhere on earth and plenty of people doing it...in fact, youll find a whole bunch of people fishing on boats for a living! In fact, youll find a zillion hunters and fishers all over New England and the east coast.....not everyone that lives on the east coast lives in manhattan. I did live there for a while and admit, i didnt run into many hunters except the rich types who get off on $50,000 vacations to Africa to shoot trophy game

just because we dont have Elk or Grizzly bears doesnt mean we dont hunt, fish or know about the out-of-doors.

Someday hire a charter captain on Lake Ontario for a day of king salmon fishing and you will be quite impressed I am sure

and i dont quite understand why your dissing Maine either...pretty tough country to survive in. harsh and cold and wet and few people and lots of empty land where people hunt and fish for a living and to survive and to cure boredom. I would reckon most the people in Maine are a hell of a lot more skilled at out door survival than what passes for the "wild west" these days or compared to anywhere in the USA except for Alaska

next time your in the East, spend some time in the country and report back

ramonesfreak, I hunt upstate NY for turkey and love going there!!! Every Spring and fall. Our friends that live there think I'm crazy, chasing silly birds.
