It is too easy to jump to conclusions and the old guy was so wrong to say something. On the other hand if somebody looks at u the "wrong way", I would ignore it. If they misunderstand the situation, then that is their problem. However it is easy to have preconceived ideas of how lives should be led and that is wrong. Minding your own business is a lot smarter.

Of course this all gets amplified in a bar under the influence of alcohol and can result in a fight where stupid can lead to physical pain.:eek:

It seems to me now a days we need some old school train of thought, with everbody so wrapped up in their own business, socially and politically correct, i think some people need a good wake up call.

I miss the old guys way of thinking; when you see something wrong call it out.

Perhaps it will smarten up more douces out there.

As for ap1966 yes wry amusement is a great view

Don't forget: We are all stupid in our own unique way.

 get over yourself. I had just ribbed mosses for his post, then you pipe-up with more of the same. ...oh, wait, did you just go on the offensive purely because I posted ribbing Mosses?...

Thing is, it's funny; butting in to tell people to not butt in.

I suppose that I'm more annoyed by hypocrites than by people butting in. As Ian rightfully points out, we all have our quirks. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ool_shades.gif

Not so long ago, when people didn't mind their own business, they were shot. People not worrying about themselves is one of the big problems we have in this world, IMHO.

Even today, people get shot even while minding their own business. So what's your point?

Baz 06-03-2012 08:27 AM

Here's the deal......

There are times when one needs to get "involved" and there are times to mind your own business.

Some schmuck grabs an old lady's purse - you get involved.

You see a couple of different age - you mind your own business.

The difference is merely one of WISDOM - something missing in our society of IDIOTIC HUMANS.

It's not that hard....

I see both sides. I have mistakenly been called my father's "mistress" when we have been in Vietnam. I laugh and say no. And they are more embaressed than anything. I have been "called" out dating Caucasian men. Again, I ignore the comments. Stupid people have the right to say all they want. Most of the time, I find that ignoring them and letting them go on their rants eventually prove their stupidity to not only me but to others around.

That being said, some of these things that people comment on are matter of opinion. Not fact. In this case, entirely not true. I understand P4life's and Moses' statement in the fact that if you don't really know all the facts, don't comment. I am sure both would intervene if the woman was distressed. It is called the assess the situation and proceed.

tweezers74 06-03-2012 08:34 AM

Baz, you are so right.

Well said and pretty simple. :D

"Some schmuck grabs an old lady's purse - you get involved."

You mean, that's when you say sumthun?

Point is, there are different levels of involvement. ...is rolling your eyes at some stupid behavior "butting in"? ...if Some schmuck grabs an old lady's purse is an eye-roll sufficient?

Everyone has a different threshold of annoyed, and different level of response for each.

Baz 06-03-2012 08:45 AM

Thanks - I like to keep things simple....must be the barbarian in me...ugg! :)

island911 06-03-2012 09:04 AM

Hey, we have lawyers because it never is simple.

I mean look at that Martin/Zimmerman case -- Zimm, a neighborhood watch guy was wondering who was butting in to his neighborhood. ... Martin saw Zimm as butting in to his right to walk into a gated community, w/o being eye-balled, so he sought to teach Zim a lesson on eyeball'n people.(butting in) ...a beat-down. Zim shoots and the big who's butting-in on who ensues.

That's sort of the problem - they shouldn't.

I agree...trouble is many have personal problems like self-esteem issues. That is the root for their behaviour. If more humans felt better about themselves they would mind their own business..... ;)

speeder 06-03-2012 09:40 AM

I would have told him to go fk his mother.

Joe Bob 06-03-2012 09:47 AM
