Stupid people

Walking through a shopping centre with my 15 y.o. daughter the other day. Gave her a quick hug across the shoulders before she walked over to look at some dress. This old guy (80 +) walked up to me, glared then through gritted teeth hissed " You're old enough to be her father", then walked off.
Didn't know whether to be insulted or proud, so settled on wry amusement.

azasadny 06-02-2012 06:13 PM

That's funny!!!

widgeon13 06-02-2012 06:16 PM

You should have told him he was old enough to mind his own business.

Oh Haha 06-02-2012 06:18 PM

You should have replied "you're old enough to STFU!".

j/k of course.

People are idiots and they seem to prove themselves daily.

I had a middle aged woman(yes, she was attractive) almost run her shopping cart into my kids while at a store today. She's lucky I was paying attention and moved my kids enough so she could get by. She didn't say a word, just kept charging down the aisle.

Was she on her cell phone?

In general - humans are pretty stupid anyway - I mean NOTHING I see or hear surprises me anymore. If they would MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS it wouldn't be so bad...

Actually, she wasn't. She must have been just a "regular" stupid person.:)

Zeke 06-02-2012 06:46 PM

I think "I am her father" would have been a great retort.

dan88911 06-02-2012 07:44 PM

Seems like we got a lot of stupid people these days.
You think there's something in the water or the food supply? :)

stealthn 06-02-2012 07:58 PM

Come on guys really?

It seems to me now a days we need some old school train of thought, with everbody so wrapped up in their own business, socially and politically correct, i think some people need a good wake up call.

I miss the old guys way of thinking; when you see something wrong call it out.

Perhaps it will smarten up more douces out there.

As for ap1966 yes wry amusement is a great view

A good friend of mine took his very pregnant Daughter in law out to dinner when his son had to go out of town for business. He said he had all sorts of sneers and looks of disgust from most of the women in the place. A 50+ year old man with a 22 year old pregnant woman gets a lot of looks.

Bill Douglas 06-02-2012 08:33 PM

Lol.

recycled sixtie 06-02-2012 08:47 PM

All I would have to do in that situation is imagine how it would be like to live with an old ------ like that. I used to rent a room from a guy who used to be a prison guard. Big mistake. That was right after my divorce(no kids tho). I went from one prison to another.

You handled it well and said nothing. That shows class.
Sometimes saying nothing is the best thing. Saying something to him probably would have gone over his head anyway.

Speaking of age I was out on the golf course yesterday (game was ho hum) and was by myself. The course was kind of backed up so I said to the two Asians waiting behind me, "are you Japanese?" The one said no Korean. Shortly after he said, how old are you? I said I will give u a clue I am in my 60's. He said nothing after that. Perhaps I had insulted him when I asked him if he was Japanese?!
Who knows? Time to move on, put the top down on the Boxster and feel like er 30:):):)

Probably. Koreans and Japanese used to kind of hate each other.

Like an interracial couple? A gay couple? Why does the idea of a big age disparity offend you? And what business is it of yours who people choose to love? One of our Pelican friends is happily married to an older woman. Another happily married to a much younger woman. Both examples are the same in that they are none of your business.

island911 06-02-2012 10:20 PM

Yeah, marriage to a 15 y/o . . whats the problem? [banjos]

Ha! I missed the 15 year old part! I get weird looks when I'm out with my 20 year old daughter. Pisses me off! :)

Exactly! People need to learn to mind their own damned business... What does it matter to them if you are happy and not hurting anyone else....

Yeah, and I'm so glad that someone stepped up to tell stelthn to mind his own business. We need more guys thinking like p4life; when you see something wrong -like not minding your own business-- call it out. Good example!

porsche4life 06-02-2012 11:22 PM

I wasn't calling anyone out... Merely agreeing with Moses.... Perhaps you should take the time to comprehend my post, and not just go on the offensive purely because I posted it....
