Looking for some help. My girl Stella aka "the dipper" is getting up there in age.
She'll be 14 this winter. She is in great health, has plenty of energy, she has cataracts so her vision is not as sharp and she does not hear as well as she used to but she’s still in great health. The issue is her digestion. She does not digest her food well anymore. This is causing some loose stool. This is a dog who never needed to walk on a leash, never chewed anything she wasn’t supposed to and never ever made in the house. Recently she’s not been able to hold it well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks she’s been a fantastic girl and aside from that issue I think she’ll be with us for a few more years. My last dog lived to 17. Here she is circa 2003:

Trader220,
Don't loose faith in your girl. Have you spoken with your vet regarding a diet change? I know our vet carries the DVM rated foods that can address many issues our aging friends experience. A quantified assessment of your pups needs via your vet might set you on the right path. Depending on a blood panel result, RX could be in order as well. Good luck, Bugs Sent via Jedi-Kung-Fu-Panda mind trick by the cat

My vet told me to give my pooch a dollop (scientific large spoonful) of plain full fat yogurt on top of his regular food.
That is a natural probiotic and assists with digestion....made a dif here. Dog (s) love the stuff and am surprised at that.

Our dog was having a similar issue. He developed an intolerance to the food he had been eating for years. We tried several different kinds and finally found one that worked. You may want to do some experimenting. Good luck.

Thanks.... I think a trip to the Vet is in order. She is a really wonderful dog, always has been. No matter how much time I have spent in the garage she's always happy to lay around and watch. Always up for a drive to nowhere.
