This is Zora (named after my poodle), half sister of my dog (same Sable mother). She's a Sable kept for breeding when she's about 2 years old. Now at 4 months. A dark top coat is growing over her lighter undercoat. She will get taller soon, too.

This is a daily ritual, usually more than once (yes, the lamp is messed up).

^^^ That is insouciance in a photo.

What a great looking pup.

Sometimes it takes a little effort to get her to move off. I think she likes to be near my scent. She's a total one-person dog. Good in some ways, but I wish she was a little more interested in strangers at other times. She seems to be good with other dogs, though.

Martha as a pup being picked by at her breeder's, photographed with the breeder's dog Cuddles. He originally named her "Knickers," supposedly after an accident on his lap, but that didn't go over well with his then girlfriend Jane Asher. So, he re-named her Martha and wrote "Martha My Dear" about her.

Bosco trembles for about 15 minutes if a smoke alarm beeps (like a weak battery) or when guests have a certain beep for a text (my wife and I changed our text alert signals). I hold him tight and eventually he stops quivering. Ever seen any other dog do this? I haven’t.

wdfifteen 05-04-2025 08:05 AM

My girl Madison acted exactly the same as Bosco. Any little sharp sound terrified her and she started trembling and looking afraid. We can turn our alarm off during a false alarm by poking the button on it with the end of a broomstick. I don't know how many times I held Maddie in one arm while poking the smoke alarm with the other.
Thanks for the memory.

Our black lab came to us while backpacking looking like that. He didn't whimper once while we pulled out the quills. Most stoic animal I'd ever seen. My dad rescued him after he was found in his house with his former owner, an old man who passed away. Zack.

Beauty, a wire-haired terrier, held by her owner PDSA Superintendent Bill Barnet. © PDSA Archives.

Beauty is thought to be the world’s first rescue dog.

Initially, she simply accompanied Bill Barnet as he took part in rescue missions following bombing raids during the Second World War.

Although she was untrained in rescuing, one day, on her own initiative, she dug through rubble and found a cat, resulting in her becoming an official member of the rescue team.

Beauty found and saved 63 animals during the war years. She died naturally in 1950.

Pray for me... I agreed to foster an 8 month old puppy who needed liver surgery. Her dirty blood flow only went part way into her liver and the rest went back into the clean blood stream unfiltered via some extra veins/vessels.

She had a tough start in life as she was born not breathing and has two leaky heart valves to boot. You would not know any of this by looking at her except she is smaller than most golden retrievers.

She had a successful surgery yesterday and now I have to somehow keep her calm for two weeks! I will probably lose one or both my legs on account of her running her cone into them. They did send home several pain and sedation meds that as of right now haven’t had any effect. She is as hyper and happy as before the surgery.

Not nearly as good as a Prince among women.

Thanks Steve, she’s finally calmed down a bit. She will be a quick adoption once she heals up.

Steve Carlton 05-08-2025 06:04 AM

What's her name? Is she going to have a normal lifespan?

My heart goes out to her. Please post more pics of her when you can.

wdfifteen 05-08-2025 06:25 AM

Bless you Rutager. Praying for a good outcome for both of you.

rwest 05-08-2025 08:03 AM

Thanks guys,

Her name is Tilly and she’s a big sweetheart, we’ll until she starts hyperventilating and looking for trouble! Until this Pope thing gets figured out, I won’t be able to get an exorcism done!

Hard to tell if her issues will impact her longevity. The vet says she will need to have her heart checked annually.

She weighs about 30lbs and has pretty tiny paws, so she will probably be a small dog.

She has papers which say she is a purebred Irish Cream golden retriever.

Making the world a more loving and kind place, one foster/adoption at a time. I have never seen an Irish Cream golden, they sure catch the eye. All the best to you, Rutager.

Good on you rwest! Hoping things work out well for all of you sir!

It's been a year since we lost our 14 year puppy Scout the Maltipoo. We were now ready for a new beginning. We picked up Atticus, 13 week old male Bernedoodle, last week and things are going very well!
