^we stayed east of surf city few years back which looked like a younger crowd area. Beach was nice but not very wide where we rented. Bunch of large houses crammed together on the lot, thankfully empty or we would have been stepping over each other even more, and a long boring 2 lane road to anywhere. Nice and quiet but only because of off season. Wilmington seemed more interesting with things to do. Just my opinion of course.

Near perfect storm at the dog park the other day. Guy has a new young greyhound a few months from the track. Most are statues but this one has pep. Another guy brings his older dog and a cute pit pup who just wants to play and gets all over the gh.
A lady bring in a Miniature Pincer and sets him down to run around. We are deep in conversation meanwhile. The greyhound jumps on him and mouths him. Rabbit instinct. I run over and yell before the gh gets to the next stage of flipping and killing it. Lady doesn't thank me. Gh guy doesn't thank me or apologize to Pincer lady. Other guy grabs his dogs and splits fast. Geesh. |

At least you were paying attention well enough to realize what was about to happen. I tip my hat to you for being one of the few responsible dog owners at the park that day. Better to hear about it on the forum than the nightly news do to a doggy death related to a dog attack. We all know well enough how the media blows things up for the uneducated. Bravo and thanks for diverting a doggy disaster. Cheers Bugs On a side note, there is an older lady who we see regularly walking her rescue GH's on our morning walk with Sir Henry. It's the first time I have ever encountered GH's. Her female knows that when we cross paths, she is going to get a bunch of doggy lovin, she is very reserve. Her other male GH just suddenly passed while they were literally walking into the vets office. He collapsed DRT, sad. Woof[emoji252] You get Henry's seal of approval. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3e1831bbda.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
We rescued a GH about 20 years ago. He was pretty fresh off the track and was a champion. We were told that he was always kept in an upper crate and only touched ground when it was time to race.
The first day I took him for a walk down the street a little white MGB went by and the dog LAUNCHED. I guess instinct told him to chase no matter what. I'm 6-4 220 and he almost pulled me down. Serious hand full to hold on to the leash. Amazing power in those hind quarters! Now it's drama on a much smaller scale...... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496630303.jpg |

My mom had to put her dog down yesterday. He was 5 years old and the sweetest dog on the planet. He got cancer on his jaw and couldn't open his mouth. they took out the tumor once but it returned quickly. My daughter and I went to her house to say bye to Copper.

Poor Copper.
Not nearly a long enough life for him and not a long enough time for him to spend with his people. |
Bummer. I'm sorry about Copper. I hate these posts.
