Baz good deal on the pup feeling better that's what really matters . Sounds like it might be time to find another vet . Any chance there is an over the counter equivalent ? I am not kidding maybe talk to your local pharmacist it can't hurt .

You're right though - important thing is my girl is doing better. My old vet actually lived in town and a couple times he left meds for us in his mailbox that were expired and he couldn't use them at his practice. I realise that all medical professionals have to adhere to certain practices. But like many things - there are always exceptions and in this case this vet obviously didn't give a poop about us. Makes me appreciate my old vet. |

Putting you off until May is inexcusable. A good vet will squeeze you in somehow. I'd find another. Your old vet will get the message when the new one asks for your dog's file. |

In the meantime new development. My dentist has been wanting to pull one of my teeth for the past year or so and I've been delaying things a bit because I like my teeth - all of them - and just didn't want to lose any! Situation is it has a crack in it apparently and is un-repairable. It's one of my pre-molars so may not even impact my smile, is the good news. So as of yesterday it started getting tender. I called my dentist this morning to book a date for removal and the tech at the front desk booked a day for me and said in the meantime she would call in an anti-biotic Rx. Hmmmm"Do you ever recommend Cephalexin in 500mg?" "Why yes we do" "OK then - could I please have that for my tooth?" "Why yes....who do you use....I will call it in right away." So........looks like Winkipop and I will BOTH be getting the Cephalexin now....lol. Moral to the story.....a good doggie dad would be willing to loose a tooth if it helps his baby! |

I posted early lastar about losing my boy Jack, and how hard that was. Well, 2021 was determined to top 2020, and we lost my girl Lily too. Both rescues, and both held a solid chunk of my heart. Was very rough saying goodbye, though they both made that hardship more than worthwhile when they were around.
So in late March, my wife and I adopted Chopper from a rescue society in Cochrane. He is about 2, a serious mutt, no idea of providence...and a super dog. Feeling like our luck in adoptions is holding, we picked up Lola a month later, also a rescue from a different society. Lola is around 2 as well, possibly saluki/great dane with a spatter of others thrown in. The two are fast friends, and probably burn tens of thousands of calories a day turning my yard into what looks like a horse track. Could not be happier. Well, actually I could be if they were able to meet Jack and Lily. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1621368034.jpg |
Congrats all round! They all look like awesome pups.
|
Glad they get along so well. Which is which?
|
Thank you, they have been awesome pups indeed!
Chopper up front, male about 65 lbs when we got him, solid 75 now strong as an ox. Lola in the back, she was about 70 lbs and has to he close to 100 now, she's way taller than she looks in that shot, lightning fast. It wasn't roses from day one, chop is missing one little chicklet tooth just in front of his upper canine (and I'm lighter 1k for it), after their one good, and final, disagreement about a week in. Likely broke it on Lola's teeth somehow, in a fight that literally scared the crap out of her. I raced home after a call from the wife telling me "there's blood and **** everywhere!". Spent the whole drive wondering how the **** played into the scenario lol. After that they seemed settled on who is boss, and have been fast friends since. I can't imagine what we would do with either of them without the other, we would never tire them out. |

Here's a touching eulogy from a friend of mine who lost his best friend today:
“Pete, my angel, my perimeter guard, my exuberant floppy-eared goofball, my picky picky eater, my head-burying love-on-me little man, my fierce bear dog... I had as a good a day today as I possibly could for you. I rode my bike slowly and enjoyed the smells on the wind and the sun. I rolled on my back in the grass where nobody could see me water them with my tears. I ate good food and took time to appreciate it. At every single moment, you were with me. You still are, and always will be. I will miss you. Terribly. You have a GIANT perimeter to patrol now... keep all those that went before you safe. Goodbye, my beautiful Pete.” https://scontent.ftpa1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...4a&oe=60CFEED2 |
