I have posted about Cleopatra off and on for more than seven years. She adopted us and is still keeping us safe. She's still feral mind you but her guardian instincts are in full function. She has adopted a cluster of Peacocks that roam the property and since she protects them, the population has grown from around ten to over forty.
Coming home from a Christmas party the other night, I spotted her standing her post. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766280805.jpg |

If you are wondering why we take so long to get stuff done? More important things keeping us busy. This is my office on a regular work day.
Life's too short to miss out on the dog mosh. The big white girl is Porsche (one of Cleo's puppies). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766284865.jpg |

Our male Dachshund was chowing down on his dinner. He is very food motivated. His mouth was full and he was munching away when the doorbell rang. He tried to bark, but it was rather muffled and kibble blew out and then he had to clean up the food off of the laundry room floor. It was pretty funny. He decided to keep eating and let the doorbell ringer alone. Food was more important that guarding us from the invading danger at the front door.
It was Amazon letting us know we have a package. They have not rung the doorbell in a long time. |

Six days ago I posted a picture and blurb about Cleopatra and her indepenance.
Well things have changed. I had a nice Christmas with a great surprise. Cleopatra came to the back door and when I open up to say hi, she walked into the house. After nearly 18 months on walkabout, she decided to come in for some R&R. As she came in, she got reacquainted with Porsche, her daughter and the newest family member, Buzby. I was nervous but everyone handled the challenge with grace. I spent the morning calming her, welcoming her home and then a couple of hours carefully removing her tangles and mats. She decided to isolate in the master bath and when I went in to do my morning routine, she walked into the shower. You don't need to hit me over the head to take a hint. During her bath, I removed layers of dirt and a few more tangles. As I write this she is resting. She came in last night and when I woke up this morning, Porsche, Buzby and yes, Cleopatra were all sleeping on my bed. What a blessing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766773944.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766773944.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766773944.jpg |
Great news, Henry! Pro tip- get a bottle of Quicker Slicker. It’ll make brushing out tangles much easier, make her coat dry out faster, and it has a very pleasant scent.

Man smiled in his mugshot, after “disciplining” three college kids who used a BB gun on his dog.
It started when the kids came home on break and treated a neighbor’s dog like a joke, firing BBs into him over and over, like it was target practice. The dog survived, but it wasn’t “harmless fun.” It was pain, panic, and a long recovery that never should’ve happened. Then the punishment came down, and it barely felt like one: a fine and community service. To the owner, it wasn’t justice, it was permission. So he walked to their house and confronted them. No speech for the internet, no camera, just a man who’d hit his limit. He told them, “Fight someone your own size.” What they didn’t know is he’s a jiu-jitsu black belt, and when things escalated, it ended fast, messy, humiliating, and unforgettable. When police arrived, the kids were banged up, and the dog’s owner was the one put in cuffs. Now he’s facing 30 days in jail. His dog is recovering at his mother’s place. And when people asked why he did it, he didn’t celebrate it he kept it simple: “Kids need to learn there are consequences.” http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1767290457.jpg |
This story about the dog's owner beating up three teenagers seems made up. The owner is Hayden Howard, a woman who lives with the dog and her 2 year old son at the time in 2017. I have a feeling charges were never pressed against Tim Woodard, who was suspected of shooting the dog. I can't see what happened after Woodard was arrested for drug possession.
