my best friend

last week I lost my best friend...Maxwell. my loving and loyal cocker spaniel.

he was the best friend I could have ever asked for and as hard as I loved him, he loved me back more. he has left a huge hole in my heart and it is amazing just how important he was to me in every element of my life. hard to imagine being able to shed any more tears...but I seem to manage.

I will get better each day but I will continue to miss my boy. he was a special friend and is love is indelibly etched on my heart:( http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1405457899.jpg

Very sorry for your loss, Pete. Thanks for sharing the pics - he looked like a great companion. We've all been down this road and there's not much anyone can say to take away the emptiness one feels when they have to say goodbye to such a steadfast loyal companion. All we can do is hug and love on our fur children every day and be there for them when their time comes. Which you have obviously done.

Remember the good times and that one day you two will see each other again.

(Weather channel says the pollen count is at hazardous levels today.)

Vin, that story reminded me of putting my mom's 17+ yo lab.
He hung in there an extra 2-5 years for her.
He had a good day, then dropped instant with the shot.
Some fight it the tech said. He was ready.

He was my dog before that in HS.
I walked and swam him through every woods and river around.
Have a pic somewhere of him as a pup sitting on the front of the windsurfer.

It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are. - Anonymous

Hahsha, so true....

This picture is of our son's boxer, Jake. They came home and discovered he had pilfered a bag of flour out of the trash. I guess is whole head was white before clean up and the picture being taken. Still a funny shot.

GF does voluntary work at the SPCA and says I should come along and work there too. But I don't want to go and fall in love with some kitten/pup/dog/rabbit. I've only got enough room in my life (and house too) for one cat and two dogs.

However if numbers where down there are some good fun pets looking for a home at that place.

Pit bull saves deaf teen from house fire

Pit bull saves deaf teen from house fire | News - Home

A teen is alive thanks to the family's pit bull, who woke him up from a nap when his house caught fire.

Nick Lamb, 13, who was born deaf, was home alone and sleeping without his hearing aids when the fire began, reports The Associated Press and WXIN. Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Rita Reith says Lamb was unable to hear the smoke alarms going off.

"Ace," the family's beloved 2-year-old pit bull, came into Lamb's room and licked his face until he woke up. That's when he realized the house was full of smoke.

Lamb grabbed his cell phone, his hearing aids and Ace and got out of the house, where he texted his mother and called 911.

The house was almost completely destroyed, and the damage was estimated at $175,000.

Lindsay Bernard, Lamb's mother, credited Ace with saving her son.

Put the pieces of each note in a plastic bag go to you bank or send them a US Secret Service near you. They will probably replace them.

Thanks for all the Olive updates, Dan - she's the 'unofficial' mascot of the thread, you know!

Please give her a couple belly rubs from the girls and I. :)
