Being a Chow their instinct is to guard. So when we are couch-surfing, he is at the door waiting for any nonsense that may happen. |

I once told him that I'm going to take a picture of his face, print it out, then glue it to his @ss so I know what he looks like! He was non-plused

I don't understand why every other heeler is so much darker than mine.:confused: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364909929.jpg |

With the Blue Heelers - they are born almost all white except for their markings and then darken up with age. Little Marcos should become darker as he ages. That said there are some variations in coat colour, no matter what the age is. Here's little Billabong back in '06 - look how 'bright' she is - we figured at that time she was about 1.5 y/o. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364917084.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364917118.jpg These photos were taken the day after she was sprung from a kill shelter in Louisiana. She was at a friend in Baton Rouge who pulled her and gave her a nice bath until we could arrange transport. Anyway.....here she is 6 years later....and a little darker...... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364917470.jpg |

Baz, cool thanks. I think that's what the lady that picked him up said too...He'd get a little darker. I think Vinman's dogs started dark as puppies.
Lex started dark but he's cheating being mixed with a Lab. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364920797.jpg |

FWIW, I like the lighter coat colour......very distinctive and the spots show up better. Yeah - Lex's coat colour is influenced by those Black Lab genes! |

Maybe they are darker than this now, but they are darker than Marcos as he is now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/643296-nes-additions-vinman-homestead-four-legged.html |

After 14 years had to put Jeep down. It was sad at the end so I had to bite the bullet and do it. But not to worry, I am now the proud owner of Max, AKA "Mr Willy". |

You did what you had to - the ultimate act of love for your companion. "Mr. Willy" is one cool dude....congrats for saving another furkid's life! :p |
Thanks Baz, have had to put down 4 dogs in the past year. We had a lot of wander-ups around the house at about the same time so they're all leaving about the same time. Down to one Blue Heeler (and she went blind) and of course Mr Willy. Probably won't ever have over 2 again. It's gotten so expensive to own a dog anymore it's not funny.
