The DOG thread

Sorry to hear she crossed the rainbow bridge. It's never easy and I've tried to convince myself after the feeling of someone hacking my heart out of my chest with a rusty butter knife, I don't want to go through that ever again....[emoji22]

But alas, we seem to repeat history because they bring so much joy to our lives.

May Speedy live forever in your memories.

Just found out about a new dog movie headed our way. Looks like a feel good film.

Thank you. I felt the same way and still miss her very much, but we rescued "Deucee".
She was in the back room at a high kill shelter with less than 24 hours to go. She can't replace Speedster but she is just as special. And makes us laugh everyday!

On a more positive note. I pick her up after the 10th.

Our two Australian Shepard brother use to do the exact same thing. It's like they are thinking......

My pooch has been very ill this year

While ill he had lost more than a 1/3rd of his body weight, after many weeks of testing we found his immune system had turned on itself

Quite a bit of nerve damage was done so he had lost so much strength I have to carry him up and down the stairs but thankfully he's slowly on the mend.

This is his first day out in months and he's totally uninterested

We rescued one year old brother and sister golden retrievers a few weeks ago. They seem to have lead a very sheltered life but are quickly finding comfort in their new situation. Previous owner was apparently a depressed shut-in type who was suddenly hospitalized for mental reasons. He seems to have loved his dogs and took good care of them they just never had a chance until now to run and play.

They're super sweet and beautiful dogs. We are all very happy especially my 3 year old and 9 year old sons.

We just need to fence in the yard so they can have more space and don't need to be walked so often.

This dog thread makes me think of chickens.

Is it a pipe dream to think the right breed of dog will maintain control over unfenced chickens? Can and will the right kind of dog herd and protect unfenced chickens year-round in a sub-arctic clime such as I find myself?

If so, taking into consideration the dog will also serve as my companion and mentor, is this doable?

My old buddy, Murphy(Australian Shepard) used to get all excited when I'd bust out the shop vac. He loved getting vacuumed.

He is missed, hard to believe it's been 16 years.
