RIP Snap!

You all were lucky to have each other for as long as you did. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you all again for your very kind words and open ears to help us get through this. My daughters birthday was yesterday. (14) One day after losing our Snap. We made the best of it and celebrated with almost her entire class by having a beach party in Santa Cruz. Bonfire and all. :) There was only one thing missing. :(
You all are great and I am proud to be able to post amoungst you.

Pet loss pain is like no other.
I've done it 3 times now - it always seemed like I was doing something bad to them.
'Hard to settle that in my mind...and easier to tell someone else to "...do the right thing."
It's bloody damn hard...it has a person think, "never again."
.
My heart hurts for you, man. :(

pete3799 10-07-2012 02:06 PM

Sorry for your loss Dan.
RIP Snap.

My condolences Dan.

If there is anything emptier in this world than the home in which a dog just died, I don't know what it is....

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thanks Baz. Its still way too quiet in our house. My wife actually sent me a link to our local humane society for a 9 week old Pit mix up for adoption. She is really cute but its way too soon. Still too raw.

BTW, We adopted Snap when she was 7 months old from the Humane Society.

You all are going to laugh at this one. Snap and "her" cat Elliott were bust buds. They absolutely loved each other. One of our rituals every night before bed was to go out and mark our territory. (take a leak) It keeps the racoons and other creatures at bay. Last night Elliott hops up on the bed as I am getting ready to crawl in and has this look like... "Uh Dude! Are you forgetting something?" I actually laughed out loud. I got up and took him out. He sprayed all the usual spots and we went in. Life was good. :)

Dan, I have a mailbox for my business here on the barrier island where I live. The main PO for the city is on the mainland. I only check my mail once or twice a week. The folks at the island PO are laid back and a lot different than those on the mainland. So I'm checking mail yesterday and as I emerge from the building there is a big dobie staring me in the face. Ha. His handlers were right behind - they said his name is "Remmie" - short for Remington. I asked "Remington Steel?" They said no the other one. :) They said he was a little sketchy around men. I said ah a rescue. They said yup - had him for 3 years and he has come a long way. "Rescues are the best dogs." he said. You could see it in his eyes...the look that says "I just want to be loved."

Dogs are the best.

I will hug the girls this morning extra hard for your girl Snap. And for yours, Neil.

All the best,
Baz, Winkipop, and Billabong

So sorry to hear of your loss. They are such important members of our family. Will hug each one a little longer today.

syncroid 10-11-2012 10:24 PM

We got the call today that Snap's remains (we had her creamated) (Sp?) were ready for us to pick up. It will be nice to have her back home until we can plan that next special camping trip so that we can spread her remains in a place that she enjoyed with her family.
We told her that she needed to reincarnate herself into a puppy that "speaks" to us. I already hear her barkin! :D

Hi Dan,

I remember your bud Snap from the dog thread. My sincere condolences on your loss.
Rest assured, my pups Woody, Cooper and Spencer met her at "the bridge" and are frollicking together with all the other beloved Pelican Pups.

God bless you and your family.

Matt
