***STORY SPOILERS***
I saw Skyfall on opening night at an Imax theater. Beside the DB4, I thought it was a somewhat weak Bond movie, on par with Quantum of Solace. 1. The story/plot had tons of holes in it. 2. The villian was not scary at all, I more felt sorry for him. The 'creepy' popups with skulls on the computer just don't invoke fear-- maybe in the teen generation. 3. It was slow moving and long. 4. The villian made unbelievably dumb mistakes and moves throughout the whole movie. His assassin too. Let's untie Bond and hand him a loaded gun while we chug some shots. Oh, and let's assume that he has no help transmitters and we won't even search his person before bringing him to our ever-important secret lair. Could they be any dumber? 5. Craig looked old and not suave at all. His secret agent judgments were also dumb. Let's go hang out at my place as we will have the advantage of.....one shotgun and a secret tunnel vs. armed helicopters and henchmen. 6. There was no build-up, no drama. 7. There was no real bond girl who 007 wooed. The villian's Asian girlfriend who he jumps into her shower. Please. I did like the villian's island and thought that was very cool. It kind of invoked a Dr. No situation but the villian made it way to easy to be caught. And for what? To escape? What was the point of surrendering his lair in order to hack his escape? He could have laid back and made M look foolish and then kidnapped and killed her easily. Weak plot.

Wife and I saw it yesterday, has a great opening chase, really top notch, it just goes on and on. All kinds of Bond mayhem. I totally liked it, wife maybe 80%, she thought it dragged a little at times. Overall big thumbs up.

Fantastic film. Probably the best Bond film to date. Unfortunately, the new digital projection system sucks! It was like watching a film through a screen door. If this is the state of the projection art, it will be along time before I go back to the cinema.

Good movie, maybe a bit too much Vin Diesel, not enough Sean Connery.

Saw the movie last night. As the other two with Daniel Craig I enjoyed. A little far fetched he was shot, fell what 150 ft into the water, then over a 100 ft. waterfall. I thought somewhere in the movie they'd explain how he survived. Or if they did I missed it. I liked the villain also but yeah almost felt sorry for him since he got screwed by M.

I saw it with my wife. We both thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I quit worrying long ago about the realism and just enjoy movies for their entertainment value. It was a fun film that had some great action coupled with a good story line. Well worth the money in my opinion.

We saw it late yesterday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it-a big plus was a near empty theater.

Best part of the movie was Adele singing the theme. Downhill from there.
Weak plot, dialogue, continuity, story. Even the action sequences seemed recycled from other movies. It was a wasted performance for both Craig and Bardem. Not worthy the money.

My take...
It's got all of the Bond characters, but the movie has changed fundamentally. Historically, Bond was fighting a megalomaniac who was threating the world. In this movie, he is protecting his "famlly". Great locations, awesome photography, but the story is very weak. Entertained throughout, but if the character names were changed this could have been a Bourne movie. Decent, but not a great. I am a HUGE Bond fan. Casino Royal was excellent, Goldfinger excellent. Die Another Day the worst. (To give you a range). Overall, this is a solid 7.5 just my .02

I saw it last week. A few random musings:
Title sequence - weak. The Adele song was so-so, and the title design was lacking. While Quantum of Solace was a bad film, the title sequence was brilliant, and the Jack White/Alicia Keyes song was inspired. Yes, there were tons of plot holes. But all Bond movies have them. Part of the genre requires a healthy suspension of disbelief. I loved Bardem as the villain. He's a brilliant actor and while he was borrowing a little too heavily from other film bad guys (Hanibal Lector anyone?), he's good enough that I'll give him a pass. The relationships with the women paled in comparison to the story in Casino Royale. The movie in general was highly referential and I like that sort of thing. Many quotes of other Bond films as well as other cultural aspects. While it was slower paced I think that was part of the whole story. I went in with really high hopes and came out a little disappointed, but think it still was money well spent. Maybe I identified with Craig's Bond in this. At some point you reach the "I'm too old for this" moment. So, solid effort. Not as good as Casino Royale, which may be the best Bond film ever imho. But worth the price of admission. |

I left feeling sad for England. England was once a supper power, Now the Jaguar car company is owned by India's TATA. Scotlands Scotch that he was drinking is owned by the Japenese. The fire arms belonged to American Design and German Design. & The Motorcycles belonged to Germany with ngines made in China.
Of course as goes England so shall the states
