I'm pretty sure we're taking that ride to the vet, in my Landy because he loves that, this afternoon.
He's deteriorated a lot. I tried to feed him bacon this morning and he wouldn't eat it

it's time..
DON"T feed him those pills.. they will NOT make him go quietly... you don't want your last moments .. looking at a poisoned dog.. they will start a IV line.. and he will go to the bridge.. he took care of you.. now you must step up.. Rika |

Tough situation but do what Rika says....he's earned a dignified end to an amazing life.
I will have to make the same decision one day and I know it will tear me up, as I know it will you. But be secure in knowing he is now out of pain and that is the most important part of this. When it is time - go save one as Todd said...there are wonderful dogs who are p.t.s. daily because they have no home and no one to love them. Save another dog's life - and do it for your lab. Our best to you at this difficult time, Baz and the girls

Thanks guys. He is at rest now. Thankfully this came on very fast so he didn't suffer much. We had a good day of just sitting by the pond.

you listened to your heart and did what is right for your pal. The love and affection will live forever in your soul. All the best. |

Toughest part was when I got home. The bed linens smelled like dog........I just slept on the couch Quote:
Thanks Jeff He's at peace now. I'll get the ashes in about 2 weeks and sometime in January make it over to Pine Mountain in Ga to scatter them. That was his favorite place to hike. |

I'm sorry for your loss Joe.
My three Labs, Woody, Cooper and Spencer will assist your boy in his transition. Then they will terrorize the place together! My sincere condolences. My three loved my old FJ40 sans roof and rides with them are some of my fondest memories.

I posted the following in February this year.

I was thinking that for a minute, but changed my mind. Threads like this are important and should be embraced. It gives each one of us an opportunity to reflect on the animals that have shared our lives and reminds us to either go spend some time with them (if they are still with us), or remember them (if they passed).
God speed to all who have gone before us. |

Sorry Joe. But just from the 2 pics you posted, I can tell he led a great life! Hiking, cruising around in a Land Rover, you let him "live large" and he showed his gratitude and love.
