Take a poke around the internet. You will find debates among accountants about what is cash make PARF a civilized discussion.

No I'm not an accountant. But I do handle the books for my business 364 days a year. Then on the last day I punt them over to my accountant to un**** up everything I did for the past 364 days!
Sorry, but that makes no sense.

There is no debate as to whether cash is an asset. It clearly is.

You can debate whether it's a "tangible" or "intangible" asset, I guess. I.e., you can debate on what kind of asset it is (for accounting purposes). But there's no debate that cash is an asset.

I found an economics def'n of asset involving growth - which would clearly eliminate cash (usually).

I expect that like many specialized areas, ordinary words are used in different ways, leading to confusion. They should use Greek like us biologists.

If everything can either be classified an asset or a liability.....cash clearly isn't a liability

Seems to have hit support. Might be time to go back to the market.

The market will drop 500 points from today's closing before it closes 500 points above today's mark again.

So you don't think Feds can make it work Scott R?

I must admit it looks like a bumpy road ahead.
All the best.

No. Wait for the market to drop -- it will, since volatility is inevitable.

BUT, you should never trade the market (unless you are being paid to do it with other people's money).

Sourpusses like the ones above are useful in driving down your entry costs. Select good companies, and don't be too greedy.

I don't play the market so I'm not savvy at all. Is the Dow or nasdaq adjusted for inflation? IOW is todays 14,000 equivalent to say 12,000 8 years ago?
