is that a black powder pistol?

It's an 1851 Colt Navy replica. Made by Uberti. Made for those spaghetti westerns at Sergio Leoni's request, as he didn't want black powder on the set and they needed to be able to shoot blanks. He was a stickler for correctness though and this gun looks and has all the features of it's black powder brother, but shoots .38 special. Clint Eastwood carried the gun in all 3 movies. Uberti still makes the gun and it's sold under the name " The man with no name" as Eastwood never had a name in those movies. This is one of my favorite guns to shoot in my collection. It's just a fun gun to shoot and is really accurate.

Is your 1851 a conversion kit? I have both a CVA and Uberti 1851 and would like to know a little about converting the Uberti to shoot more modern ammo. Read a little bit about the process but would like an expert's opinion.

You can convert them if they are steel frame. Brass frame will break. There are a couple of companies that make them. If I were converting one. I would use Taylors conversion and send it to them to do the job right. Timing has to be set right. Taylors & Company

Nice site. It seems to be almost as inexpensive to buy one of their guns already converted. Looks like I may have three 1851's in the near future.:)

Here is a little fistful of pain (at both ends), my old Charter Arms Bulldog Pug in .44 Special. It's a five shot revolver that barely weighs 20 ounces. Nowhere near the quality of fit and finish of a Colt or S&W, but entirely serviceable and pretty darn accurate. It will easily stay on the bottom of a pop can at 25 yards or so. My standard load for it launches the RCBS .44-250K bullet (cast from wheel weights) at just over 800 fps. Ouch...

thanks for the info. this is what i am getting when i buy another pistola. i found the uberti web page and checked it out. .38 special is exactly the caliber i was looking at and this piece would satisfy my desire to have something a little bit different.

This is Ned Kelly's gun. There is a chunk blown off the left hand grip from a police bullet that also blew his little finger off. Ned's body armor worked well. 26 bullet wounds to his arms and legs but still alive.

Digging through the toy box yielded a piece I rarely played with. When I did, it shot as sweet as anything out of the box.
S&W 52-2. Fires 38 wad cutters. These may be responsible for changing the landscape of bulls eye shooting.

Even deeper in the box was a rare treasure (maybe 500 total) that seems to have found some legs amongst collectors of late. Colt 45 Model BB.
This is a rare transition model that was made right before Colt introduced the Mk IV 70 Series. This one is "new in the box".

This monster 454 Casull has an 18-1/2 inch barrel.
Bob Baker (Wayne Baker [father] founded Freedom Arms in 1978) said even at 500-600 yards, they’ve got amazing accuracy.

This is the only shrouded hammer spoon that I have ever owned (and shortest barrel).
S&W Mod. 638 - Alloy.
I checked out the story on this one by contacting Elliot Bros. in S. Carolina.
They ordered 500 from S&W in Nov., 1989.
Elliot Bros. sold out the guns in Feb., 1990 and apparently no more of these were to be constructed.
I paid $370 for it in Dec., 1989.
It jumps a bit, but it's my most often carry.

My previous bolt actions are in .17HMR and .22 WMR. I don't worry too much about them.

Maybe don't rapid fire it for a few hundred rounds? Dunno.

Meh, I don't personally think it's truly necessary, but if you want: clean the rifle every 5 rounds for the first 50 then every 10rds til it hits 100 and you should be good to go.
