When I bought a 686+ last year I found them to be rather scarce, so somebody is buying them. Mine is now my favorite thing to shoot.

Speaking of S&W double actions, I had an opportunity to shoot a 91-3 (pinned and recessed), and I've not shot a centerfire handgun as well as that revolver. Shot no better single action than I did double action. Far from pristine, but what a fantastic machine. Also, I like looking at wood grips (stocks), but Hogue Monogrips have always shot better in my hands. |
Here's another Virginian Dragoon. This one is in .357 mag, with a 7 1/2" barrel. I understand there may be a bit of a controversy these days over whether or not they actually delivered any in this caliber. Originally designed around the .44 mag cartridge, it makes for a pretty darn heavy gun in .357.
These were introduced by Interarms as a competitor to the Ruger Blackhawk. It's actually a far better gun, but that was also reflected in its price, and as a result it didn't stay on the market for long. What a shame; I bet they could sell them today, what with the resurgence in interest in single actions spurred by the Cowboy Action crowd. I bought this one brand new in 1981 when I turned 21, just because I could. It was the first centerfire handgun I legally owned as "mine". http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393200511.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393200532.jpg |

This is an early model Charles Daly Superior Grade 12 GA O/U shotgun. This one was produced by B. C. Miroku in Japan in mid 1960s. It has 30", full choke barrels. I purchased her for shooting trap when I was around 15. I think I paid $160.

This is a Ted Williams 20 gauge over under pump model 400. It has 26" barrels, one mod and the other IC. I bought it new from sears in 1971 for shooting skeet. I believe it's basically a Winchester 101 made in the Olin Kodensha factory in Japan. I think this is around the time the Japanese were buying up all the nice walnut. She's not worth much to the collectors but she turned out to be a very sweet shotgun. Never a minute of trouble and always felt good in my hands. Went clean for the first time with her.

1969 Model 52-D .22 caliber Free rifle. Hand built by Winchester for the US Olympic team. The 52 was originally built as a military training rifle, losing the contract trials to the Remington 40x

This a SYST- AYDT hand built by Bruno Anschutz in the mid 20s. It has two barrels: one standard breach loader and one breach cartridge with muzzle loaded bullet. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394045734.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394045648.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394045657.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394045681.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394045696.jpg |

Anyhow, here's the new one on the range last Thursday- all I did was change out the grips, the recoil spring, removed the magazine disconnect, cleaned up the firing pin (it was rusty), and polished the ramp- it was perfect. Ran about 100 mixed FMJ and JHP's through it without a single hiccup. This one's a keeper. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394487540.jpg |

Just another day with the Porsche Owner's Club rednecks at the Los Angeles Silhouette Club rifle and pistol cartridge match. Last Sunday a few 1886's with case colors knocked down some rams. Gotta love the 45-90's.

Put a Stark SE1 pistol grip on, switched the barrel nut from a free float to a standard nut/delta ring and installed a FAB VFR free float....probably have another 2 months of waiting for the Form 1
