Had an opportunity to shoot one of these today, and I honestly do not understand how a used one would come up for sale. Very nice trigger, remarkably easy to shoot accurately through the irons, and .308 is such a useful round. Very utilitarian, and user friendly, I wanted one when they first came out, and after shooting one, find it an extremely desirable rifle.

Old 1911s are the best ones. :) There's something to be said for a shootin' iron that's never seen the inside of a CNC nor been tinkered with by a gunsmiff.

Taz, I've always found the concept of the scout rifle interesting but I just can't get past my .308 semi-auto addiction. That's the Ruger, yes? I believe Steyr makes (made?) one as well.

That is the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle. I don't have any semi-auto .308s, but based on any previous shooting of semi-autos, they would be fun. The Scout rifle is supposed to be good at many tasks. I'm just surprised at how good a rifle it is, shootable, comfortable, accurate, quick-handling, just a remarkably good machine. Plus you can't hunt with your semis in PA.

Y'know, you can hint with FA down here :)

If eforms ever gets form 4 back, I'm likely gonna grab a suppressor...

I wouldn't mind a select fire fnc either.....They're surprisingly cheap. ..

When you need suppressing fire, the line between hunter and hunted gets mighty blurry.;)

I know of at least one outfit in Texas that does full-auto helicopter hog hunts. They provide the M16s, the ammo, and the whirlybird. You provide the $$$.

I prefer weapons that don't rely on a battery.

I know a guy with a registered m60 updated to the e6 spec for sale.....anyone got 50k they can spot me?

This rifle has been on my mind since I first handled one. I'm no semi-auto guy, no "black rifle" guy, but the idea of a handy little rifle - almost a carbine, really - in .308 has a lot of appeal. So, the idea of a bolt gun that more or less mimics the popular "tactical" semi-autos has some appeal. But I go back and forth... I wouldn't hunt with it, although I could, so it would really just be a plinker. So a .223 would seem to make more sense. Then I think "well, this would be my SHTF rifle", but I'm no "prepper" by a long shot. If I were, the .308 would make perfect sense. In the end, I still have not bought one. Maybe I'm over thinking it - it's just a cool rifle, and "just for the hell of it" is a perfectly valid reason to buy another rifle. I really should scratch that itch...

Lightning strikes again..........

Just bought this Colt Thunderer (.41 caliber) made in 1884. It is the Shop Keeper or Sheriffs model done in nickel. Finish is in good condition, but best of all, it works properly in both single and double action! Now all I need is one of the "Rainmaker" models in .32 Colt!

We share a remarkably similar thought process on that rifle.

Seriously, one of these is tempting...... pew pew pew!

on2wheels52 08-03-2014 05:36 PM

Is that a Korean device?
Jim

HHI944 08-03-2014 05:43 PM

It's an FN FNC. You can slap one together in select fire for about 7k....Pretty much as cheap as it gets for a rifle caliber select fire weapon

on2wheels52 08-04-2014 03:04 AM

Ahhh. It reminded me of a Daewoo that came through years ago.

As if the fact that it's a factory OD frame didn't make it unique enough, it's a standard land and groove rifled barrel. All matching..
