Made some changes, got some spare parts now, might need to build another one.

On yer way to a license? what club?
I'm going to Leopoldsburg which is closer to your house then mine.

Geronimo '74 01-12-2014 10:06 AM

I shoot in Lier (Ledo) Got my provisionary license a while ago.
Two weekeds ago I was in Ruisbroek, first time shooting clays. Loved it and hit quite a few.
Haven't been in Leopoldsburg yet. That's a long way out from your neck of the woods... It's practically around the corner for me. Give me a call when you're coming, maybe we can meet up.

svandamme 01-12-2014 10:40 AM

You can't come to Leo unless you are member, and you can only become member this time of year. That's the only way you can get your name on the list of the military, and without your name on the list, you're not coming in.. It's very rigid that way.

but if you wanna shoot rifles, it's the only place in Flanders that will let you shoot past 100 meters in open air..

My new Savage 116 Weather Worrier in 7mm Rem Mag. Gonna change the Nikon 3X9 out for something a little more longer range and add a muzzle brake. This thing kicks like a mule.

love the bipod, rick. harris?

Rick V 01-12-2014 01:48 PM

Actually a BlackHawk. it doesn't have notched leg extensions but it does have the "pod lock" so it was a better trade off for me.

That looks allot like the 308 XP100 conversion I built a few years ago. The action started it's life as a pistol.

nynor 01-12-2014 03:38 PM

okay, i admit my ignorance: what is a "pod lock"?

Rick V 01-12-2014 03:43 PM

What Harris calls the thumb screw that allows the spoon to tilt on the bipod. The Harris only comes with a thumb screw and you can spend an extra $40 and get a lever to replace the thumbscrew. The Blackhawk already has the lever and the whole unit is only $50 to begin with.

nynor 01-12-2014 04:05 PM

oh, nice. i tiny bipod might be fun for AR spoon.

Rick V 01-12-2014 04:09 PM

I have one on mine but it is kind of useless on a short range lightweight spoon IMO. I removed it

Buckterrier 01-12-2014 04:10 PM

I've got the Harris with lever. Very convenient.

nynor 01-12-2014 04:14 PM

hmm.... i think 300 yards plus, it might be useful for the AR spoon.

HHI944 01-12-2014 04:16 PM

Nice looking rig Buck, what's the barrel length?

Rick V 01-12-2014 04:18 PM

Buckterrier 01-12-2014 04:19 PM

My thoughts exactly and you're right, works quite well.
Not the best but was my first cruise @ 500 yards.

It looked pretty short. I've toyed with the idea of sending in my Form 1 for my pistol...

Nothing like taking a light weight rifle and hanging 10lbs of crap on it. I am rethinking this.

boba 01-12-2014 04:44 PM

This one is lightweight...
AR 5.7
Uses PS90 mags.

we are in complete agreement. i was talking about the ARspoon, not the accoutrement.

however, i do believe that a tiny bipod would be fun. :)

Yeah mine has one, it is great for the bench shots but for the most part it doesn't go out the door with the AR. Being a rail mount it comes off is seconds.

Magazine... They're an interesting design as the rounds have to "turn" 90* inside the mag to chamber properly.

It is an AR lower chambered in 5.7x28, it uses the mags from the FN PS90 bullpup, 50 round. And yes the rounds rotate 90 degrees. They eject down through the mag well.

boba 01-12-2014 05:05 PM

And if you don't want to litter you can use a gutted 30 round 5.56 mag as a brass catcher!

Rick Lee 01-12-2014 06:56 PM

I don't want to go onto the NFA registry. But this one on Gunbroker is making me reconsider.

Custom Grips

A while back I acquired a 1930 vintage Colt Officers Model Target revolver that was equipped with these custom carved target grips. The other side is a mirror image. Note the deer standing under the tree and the cougar perched in the tree waiting to pounce. The grips appear to have been put on the gun many years ago as the grip screw and bushings have a nice patina to them.
