Percussion caps in the 1600s? Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't sound right. I'm guessing that it was originally designed to use a burning fuse for ignition. All that aside, still a pretty neat video! |

3 barrel pole gun.......Mystery solved
This firearm is from the ming dynasty era. This is the first gun that consited of three barrels and uses black powder. as you can see from the picture below this gun consits of for cast iorn barrles connected to a long wooden pole. Each barrel has a small hole in which a small match stick that is lit can be put in to ignight the black powder.

That's not only the oldest gun I've ever seen it's the strangest!

Ming dynasty
1368 - 1648. A wee bit before percussion caps were invented! I'm not sure that I would want to shoot a 600 - 650 year old firearm!

BSiple, I would love one of those but my wallet isn't that thick. I do use a P90 for airsoft. Great in the thick stuff and buildings. Easy to stay stable, though airsoft has no recoil.

If you don't want to go on the NFA list then I would recommend an NFA trust. Do it soon though because the ATF is looking to re-write to rules. I have one and it's the best. If I die my kids (listed on trust) don't have to apply and pay $200 per item to retain ownership. The trust owns all of them.

Brent,
I actually picked it up for under a grand brand new.... The Five-Seven pistol cost more. My daughter is ten and has fired it, there is almost no felt recoil, its pretty fun to shoot. Bill |
Bill, it all depends when you got one. During the craziness I saw some on Gunbroker going for over $2K. Before and after, not so much. They are a sweet handspoon for sure.

Boba, I agree. I know a FN dealer through work connections, and was able to get what I felt was fair pricing for both of them....

The transfer aspect is the biggest benefit by far and alone seems more than adequate reason to go the trust route. |
I was under the impression that the new rules would change even the existing trusts going forward.
|
Word on the street is it takes 9 months to get approved (for the trust). But perhaps that is not so.
Jim |
9 months seems to be the standard.. .except, with a trust you can e - file and I've heard that can be as short as 90 days

It's always nice to see someone spending time with their kids. They will always remember what you did with them not what you bought them.

My '50's era High Standard Sport King, one of the most accurate pistols I have ever owned. Used to use it for the rimfire legs of the old "2700" game.

The old Model 19 - hardly shot or carried since bought new 30-ish years ago. I don't know why, it's a great gun. I guess I'm more of a single action guy. That, and when I'm out in the woods, I like the caliber of my sidearm to start with a "4". Too big to conceal around town, too, so it just doesn't get out much.

Very cool, Henry. Great "period" piece, utilizing a lot of the mods done on old bullseye guns. Who did the work?

22 Target guns
The High Standard guns are very nice, in fact, I bought one for my son and fitted it with a set of Lew Sanderson left hand target grips for a birthday present. My personal preference leans towards the Colt Woodsman pistols. The one on the upper right is a pre WWII first model target and the Woodsman Match Target on the upper left is a 2nd model also equipped with a set of Sanderson stocks. Both are quite accurate!

Thanks, Henry, but as you can see I have plenty of #1's right now. Great rifles.

Woodsman MT
Quote:
The Woodsman MT has a neat feature. The chamber is relieved slightly so that you can dry fire it without damaging the chamber. As far as I know, only the Woodsman Match Target has this feature. Let's you work on breathing and trigger control. |
I love the pics of the .22's. They are some of my favorite pistols.

My original Ballard Pacific, manufactured in about 1877. Originally 40-63 caliber, but rebored and rechambered to .45-70 in the late '40's by an old gentleman and hunter who has since passed away. I bought it from his son about 20 years ago in very, very sad condition - the action would not even open, the barrel looked like the exhaust manifold on an old truck, the wood was rotted and cracked, etc. It had sat forgotten in the back of a damp garage ever since the old guy passed on.
When I bought it, I promised I would get it working again. To make a long story short, it has since accounted for several mulies (and one of my best ever - a non-typical 4x7), and it won a couple of mid range matches for me (500-600 yards, hence the sight base on the tang). As a matter of fact, it accounted for the last deer I took. Kinda heavy for me to lug around anymore, at about 12 pounds, but it sure is kind of an emotional experience when I do. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390262418.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390262440.jpg |
