John Gangle had Patterson Colt sn 1, which he bought for about 130K..in a private sale he got 1M for it....

The other Colt big boy is the Colt Walker circa 1847..which established Colt as a viable mfg.. One sold at James Julias auction on the day in 08 the DOW was down 1000 pts for 975K.

Rock Island auction has gotten 1.7M for one a couple of years back and has gotten around 1M for another in the past year or so. .

I was at the Little Johns auction back in the late 90's where Henry Rifle SN 6 went for 675K plus buyers premium of 15%..which was a record at the time for a Winchester. It was a presentation to Lincolns Sec of the Navy. SN 1 was given to Lincoln and is in the Smithsonian. So #6 is about as good as you can do...I was told by John that it sold to a Billionaire who was collecting the best of the best available.

Anyway I am here today to tell you about my much more modest acquisition this past month. I have have an appreciation of the High Standard 22 Target autos...in the late 50's early 60's 90% of competition target shooters were using High Standards.

In 1948..49 HS came out with a new model series which had take down barrels wt either a 4.5 or 6.75 B. They used a little Lever in the front of the trigger guard to release the B. They are known as the Lever series...The HS nominclature is notated as being the "G" series...The GE being the most deluxe and at that time they introduced the 22 Short as the Olympic or GO model. A total of 1200 GO's were produced between 1949 and 1950 when HS introduced the Second model Olympic and Supermatic series. The GO is quite hard to find.

The unique feature of the GO Olympic was that it used a factory hand fitted CURVED magazine..Today on Ebay one of the curved GO mags is priced at $325. About 15 years ago I came by at a midwest auction a curved magazine GO with 4.5 in B for $440. It had a fair amount of wear..

Anyway late last month I spotted another GO with 6.75 inch B at an auction in upstate NY. This one was missing the magazine and had some wear issues and by SN was made in mid 1950. I got it delivered to my door for 350. I wasn't thrilled when I looked it over..a good shooter (I could use the mag from the other GO I have)..When I looked down the magazine Well boy was I surprised..it turns out that it is one of the "FEW" GO Olympics that used the Straight backed 22 short mag. It probably was a transitional spoon between the GO wt curved mag and Second model Olympic which used a straight backed mag The Blue Book assigns a $300 premium over the going rate for a Straight backed mag GO.

So my not thrilled with HS GO turns out to be a Silk Purse after all.

High Standard still lays claim to being the only U.S. manufactured pistol to ever win an Olympic gold medal.

Jesse James is keeping himself busy. A bit fancy pants for me but I can see the attraction.

that just looks retarded
and halfassed to boot.. i mean, go custom, then slap bog standard looking scope on top and a bog standard steel mag.... why bother then..

Let's ahve a new TV show where OCC Choppers starts spiderwebbing AR's, or making custom AR's by making them match some other company's logo or style.
We need a SnapOn AR, or a JohnDeere AR, that kind of stuff really is going to make for great TV.. especially with Senior going beserk with weapons in the vicinity... Will be awesome

Dad has a High Standard Double 9 revolver in .22LR. It is a great shooter. We had 6" balloons at 105 yards and I could hit those with his revolver as easy as the other guys were hitting with their rifles. It is my daughters favorite handgun.

Here is his next to our Single Six that goes unloved by our kids.

Coming soon to a PPOT poster near you!
S&W mod 27, 6" nickel

Dad had something very similar (but was probably a mod 28 that he had nickel plated) that was his service revolver when he was a cop when I was born. It was supposed to have been handed down to me, but was lost in a burglary almost 40 years ago. I've always wanted one.

We had a gentleman that worked for the DEA. He would come to church with his dress up sidearm and open carried it. It was a nickel m1911 with stock similar to those.

I am sure there are pictures of the below on page 23 of this thread, but why not trot them out again:D

Colt .38 Long Officers (Navy) owned by my mother's father, a WO in WWII :

Colt Commander my Dad carried in Korea and early in Vietnam:

A Browning Hi-Power that my wife's Great Uncle brought back from WWII. German markings. He carved his name in the grip and fought with it after he took it. Still have the holster he modified to be more efficient.
