The woman in this video had her own cleaning business that we had utilized until she had fallen ill.

Un-obstructed view of vision, large seating area, allow the riders to communicate without turning their heads. It was the perfect vehicle to motivate those who cannot get around on their own easily, able to give them a sense of independence and freedom on 2-wheel. But with COVID, I can no longer do it, according to hospital administration. https://i.imgur.com/FX75Fwt.jpg https://i.imgur.com/fpj3996.jpg |
I almost got nailed by a big fat squirrel today he fell outa a tree and slammed the pavement 10 feet in front of me. He wriggled up and stumbled away. Maybe need to start wearing a helmet we got kamikaze squirrels around here

I've been getting some parts together to build something like this. The frame I have is an Australian made "Paconi". (builder Kevin Wigum, Victoria Australia)
I'll start my own thread when it's complete. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603597845.jpg |

Looks like an interesting rig. |
e-bikes
What are your thoughts of either purchasing a pre-made e-bike or converting your bike to electric?
Specialized https://www.specialized.com/us/en/electric-bikes, and others have pre-made e-bikes ready to go. But I am thinking of converting my '97 Schwinn Moab Aluminum to an e-bike with the BAFANG BBSHD 1000watt. https://www.bafangusadirect.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwxNT8BRD9ARIsAJ8S5xapzAUH8rZ5sPnZw8q fyqZZYq72LwH9KrlyIje9pWy0a39eLGBNv1gaAnhMEALw_wcB Thoughts? |
I know I've asked about other recumbent riders here before; not sure I've ever posted photos of my bikes. This is one I built ~2001 (including frame fabrication). Geometry is similar to a Lightning P-38. I used to be fast and commute frequently; too many bad close-calls a few years ago combined with increasing traffic where I leave have made me stop commuting to work. I need to start riding again...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603644835.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603644835.jpg I built this one specifically for commuting with vehicle traffic. Seat position is high enough I can look drivers of cars in the eye. Steering geometry is "quick" and front shock for back roads. Extended front derailleur tube and accessory bar to put the headlight up high to "spotlight" drivers if needed. It's fast on flats and downhill. Not too bad up hill (back when I was in shape and could spin under load). Wheel loading is set up so that it handles best with a couple panniers and some gear on the rack. |

I did some repairs and tuning on a neighbor's recumbent (Greenspeed GT3) a few weeks ago. Never rode one before so I took it out for a shakedown run. Yikes. No thank you. I'll stick to conventional bikes.
Going to get the Alpineer out of 4 years storage and back into the rotation soon. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603652166.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603652166.jpg |

I recently found an NOS Campagnolo Record crank for my 1999 Bianchi. I've been slowly upgrading it from a mix of Avanti, Veloce, etc. to all Record. This stuff is jewelry. Sort of the last of the breed before everyone went carbon. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603653127.jpg |
Wife & I have been riding recumbents since 2004, we used to take our recumbents down to OBX in the summer for long (60+ miles) rides along the beach.
Can't beat the comfort of large seating area & relief of perched handlebar position Just look at that grin: https://i.imgur.com/8yqG9NM.jpg I've converted my $400 Vison R40 with a hardshell seat, for more support.. https://i.imgur.com/AzJFG9u.jpg |
Notice the belt-drive system.

Anybody own or ridden a performance hydrobike? Have always wanted one and am finally seriously considering one. Good ones start at $5000 .... but I guess good road bikes do as well.

A lot of people swear by them but you need a frame that can open up at the dropouts so you can change belts. |
^^^ I have/ride one and it works great. Of all my bikes...this one is my fav.

7 speed shimano/alfine gearset. Disc brakes.
Just thumb the shifter up or down while moving or stopped. No oily chain to deal with. And of course...it has the frame drop-out for changing the belt. (the only time it's ever needed) Rear tire changes don't need the drop-out. In the second pic...the nut shown on the frame just above the belt, is the drop-out. Just remove the nut and the frame spreads open to get the belt out. |
I'm "Jelly" ;)
|
^^^ Thanks..I'm really happy with the bike.
I've had it for 4 years now and only had to replace the belt once and the tires a couple times. Some say it takes more power to drive a belt bike...I disagree. With cat-eyes on both this one and my 24 speed chain bikes...no diff in speed when riding. And..yes..it is a Gates Carbon Drive. |
Merry Christmas to me!
Was searching the Campy website a couple weeks ago and spotted their e-store and after several failed attempts to use PayPal and a text from my CC company I was able to place an order. All of it made in Italy- hope the clock isn’t metric! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608246206.jpg |
