On the topic of bikes, which dry chain lube are you guys using?

I have tried several with mixed results. My main gripe is caked dirt on the derrailleur gears.

The stuff I like the best in the wet PNW is Royal Purple Max Chain:

https://www.royalpurple.com/product/max-chain/

I got handed a pint bottle at an industrial trade show years ago and tried it on my recumbent. I just cleaned the chain and brushed it on with a solder flux brush; let dry and then wipe excess off. It didn't take much at all. That pint lasted me something like 10 years.

I've never found this in liquid form in small, reasonable quantities since. I haven't tried the can yet (seems messy).

Wow. It's like that nail (the ultimate nail) sat there and waited for a Marathon (The ultimate flat resistant tire) to come by so it could strike. I bet you probably even thought "Cool, at least on this ride I don't have to worry about getting a flat...":D
WTH?

Big ol' storm a brewing-

The road rider's garb is what interest me here. That wasn't THAT long ago, was it? edit- is that Steve Carell in green tube socks?

Curt,

WOW, siht dude, that is slick. How did you come up with that? Very, very cool. Oh yeah, the bikes too, very cool.

CurtEgerer 11-09-2021 06:06 PM

Wish I could say I thought it up. Came across somebody who is selling a similar bracket. All nice and laser cut. But he wants $45 per bike. So I made my own. :D

sc_rufctr 11-09-2021 06:16 PM

Curt, This one? - I like your effort more. :)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1636510556.jpg

CurtEgerer 11-09-2021 06:20 PM

Exactly. The pedal bracket supports the entire weight of the bike. But the bike can rotate depending on the friction of the wall surface. So there are small brackets under the tires. They don't really carry any weight.

Looks like I need to clean my rims :D

look 171 11-09-2021 06:25 PM

I was gonna to ask, why are there any on the second and top bike?

CurtEgerer 11-09-2021 06:30 PM

That pic was in the mock-up stage. Took a bit of adjusting and re-adjusting bracket angles and spacing to get the bikes to 'nest' properly.

I bought this bike mount on Amazon for $22 that's advertised elsewhere for $45:

Or 2 for 26..

CurtEgerer 11-10-2021 01:03 PM

It really is a great system. Easy to remove or replace any of the 3 bikes and no bike contact except the pedal. + it makes for a nice display.

I put mine at the front door too, but not in a position to easily get it down. I had several recent trick or treaters say, "hey, there's a bicycle up there!"

Agreed. Those three bikes look great all stacked up on the wall like that....

CurtEgerer 11-10-2021 03:06 PM
