I a m sure you can find some old bike shop that has some of the older shoe hanging around. Talk to your track riders. I think many of them still ride pedals and clips. A stiff sole is a must, only if you are serious about riding. How fast and fast do you want to go? If speed is your thing, then buy a modern bike. Get a pair of riding shoe with a slotted cleat, and go and have fun. I know someone up here who still have a bunch of them, now old stock, hanging around. I don't know what they look like(dolor and such), but I know he's got some. I like black myself when it comes to old stuff like that. I still have my Adidas and Diadora, some where?

Old pros use to soak them in water and ride them to get them to soften up and conform to your feet. This info was passed down from an old German semi-pro from the old country back in the mid 80s. I was dumb enough to listen, but I think it worked.

Looks like fun with that giant motor. no fun in granny fear doing 2 mph going uphill with my skinny little legs.

I just turned 60 so speed is not an issue. That said am not going to be in some pimped out set of day-glo shoes either. Black with vent holes works very well and looks "period" and thats hopefully what I will end up with.

If your friend has anything in the 45/46 Euro sizes please let me know.

That's what we did with our shoes when I was racing but then this was in the mid-late 1960's and we learned from the old farts... like I am now! :)

We just set a record for rainfall here in AZ for the day. 1.4 inches in one day, most in something like 20 years and that was during a monsoon. We have 10 days a year that are cloudy, otherwise its sunny and dry, so wet is not an issue.

That said the links to the shoes I posted some of them cost more than the bike is worth, so not going to be riding with those!

I will check next time I go up there. Most of his left over stuff are from the mid to late 80s. I think you may know how the 80s colors go, but in the road cycling world, its still pretty reserve?

I was someplace and came across a pair of nail on cleat old shoe that was on display. I was thinking to myself, those things look like they are from 3000 years back. I started just right after that that had screws under the sole. I too must have been caught up in that whole getting old BS.

Check ebay, too. Maybe even haunt the goodwills, I gave away a really nice set of sidis a few years ago when I finally changed my last bike over to clipless.
