Been riding my new-to-me 2002 LeMond for a few weeks now. Bought sight unseen and it turns out to be near museum quality. I think the guy basically used it on a trainer. Love the "LeMond Frame Geometry". Of course, I'm using the correct early 2000's race-used Coca-Cola and TdF water bottles ... :D

I got these Park T-handle allen wrenches a few months ago. I love the sliding handle with detents, the "spinner" sleeve and the unique stripped bolt extractor end. Included is a 2mm size for the bleed port on Shimano hydraulic levers. The sliding handle lets me use the 4 or 5mm wrenches on water bottle cages. The 8 and 10mm sizes are bigger than other sets I've owned, and work great for removing pedals. A bit pricey but definitely better than any other allen wrenches I've owned. |

$10 barn find this morning. More of an ugly mutt of a track bike that followed me home. Mostly just intrigued with the Maillard 'flip-flop' track/road rear hub. No idea what I'm going to do with it. Also, a box of misc vintage parts.

I'd give a ten spot for that bike. It's a little small, but it would make a fun squirt bike for hanging out in the summer with pals....

Literally dusted the cobwebs off the Alpineer last week. First ride for it in 4 years.

That's sort of what I'm thinking ... sort of a track rat just for buzzing around on. It's pretty much my size!

That’s a cool find on the parts but I’m showing my age when I say that Nuovo stuff is the new campy stuff that’s not as good as record. :)
I haven’t tried any of the really new campy stuff but I’m one good lottery ticket away from trying it. |

- There's an emerging market for lower priced component brands from Taiwan & China. The latest 12 speed Dura-Ace Di2 group set is around the same price as the Campagnolo equivalent "Record EPS" but "Super Record EPS" is still more expensive. Also: The latest gravel group set from Campagnolo, EKAR 13 speed is the lightest gravel specific group set and is about the same price as the SRAM & Shimano equivalent. I've been using Campagnolo products for more than 40 years. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634095506.jpg |
Campy and I got a divorce after their 8 speed indexed break lever shifter fiasco. I spend the little money I had thinking I am always the loyal Campy man. It didn't work and was disappointed that Campy didn't take care of any of us. Went Shimano and never missed a shifted since. Have 11 DI2 now. Its PDk at it best for 2 wheels.
Anyone tried the latest and greatest Bianchi? Been looking at them. Sure are pretty but at over 10k, I have to think very hard about buying a new bike. Disc breaks are sure nice on our long mt descents. Peter, you ought to cut the quit on those old Campy pedals. All the cools dudes out this way hacked them off just like the dust caps on those S(t)uper Record cranks. They are the first to go. |
I went from a 6 speed freewheel to nine speed then shortly after 10 speed.
Right now I have 9,10,11 and 12 speed bikes. Yes Campagnolo service can be frustrating but they're tiny compared to Shimano or SRAM. - I'm just glad they're still around. |

I raced with 5 spd, freewheels (its all I can afford) but when ultra 6 came out, I gave my left ball for it, saved the whole summer for a 29 dollar freewheel working at a bike shop part time after my 11th grade year. Still have that damn thing. Then it was the ultra 7 that I gave my other nut for. My old Casati now has that 7 spd but I no longer ride it. Like you, I have 9,10 and 11 speed now. I hardly touch my 9 spd bike, a Merlin. The Colnago C40 I love so it gets ridden with my younger boy to our Saturday lunch one or twice a month. Something about the way it rides, the supple feel to it no matter if my tires is at 90 lbs or 110. The difference is tiny unlike the Time. You feel the 100 psi vs 90 but that's my go to bike now. I am working on stripping and rebuilding a folding bike a friend gave me some time ago. Its torn apart now and will replace the shifter, and a XTR rear derailleur for more accurate and faster shifting. My wife will ride that when we go camping or the beach for lunch. I can't deal with low end sloppy, inaccurate derailleurs. |
