For those unfamiliar with TK, a brief early history:

1976 - begins 5-year apprenticeship with renowned frame-builder Bill Boston. A few months into it, he's fired for doing crappy work. Unphased, he moves to Allentown in Oct 1976 and starts building frames on his own.

1977-80 - his frames win 2 Professional World Championships, 2 amateur Silver Medals, and 20 National Championships
Pro Championship? It was Moser and some Dutch rider like Kuper or something like that? One of them rode an re-badged American made frame, or was it a track event other then road? N ow i am really curious.

His shop is around the corner, sorta. See him on the local rides a lot. Great guy.

Built bikes for Ross in Allentown for a while, then struck out on his own. I'd never seen a pre-spectrum TK.

TK moved to Allentown specifically to be near the Trexlertown velodrome. I think most of those early wins were on the track. This frame is going to need some tlc, but it is so rare I could not pass on it. It's frame nr. 27, the 27th he built. He's still doing steel and titanium frames under his Spectrum company - and still using the same jig he built in his parent's basement in 1976!

Everybody needs one of these in the arsenal. Paired with a 13-tooth cog and 110 cadence you'll be cruising at a comfortable 60MPH.

If it's 144, it would fit Doo'racce/Ultegra/105 too, right?

Slightly offbeat question for the trust...

Are pro-peleton number plates standard sizes? A friend has a new bike, it has the number plate braze-on, and I'd like to gift her with a custom number plate. (And now that I've said it, I've gotta do it!)

I have never seen one. Don't know, but do know this, some are rectangle with a cut in one of the corners, some are not. I really don't think they are standard size

Not sure about current-day stuff, but I've done LOTS of research on 80's plates. There is no standard whatsoever. Most of these were crudely cut-to-fit by the mechanics before the race. Materials range from plastic to thin cardboard. Some had pre-punched holes, others not. A perfect material is a plastic For Sale sign. Find a big one with a large blank white area.

Look171: search eBay for look 171. There's a race-ridden 171 for sale.

Thanks, fellas...

I found these, but I would never buy something like this. I have stuff here at work that will be perfect to custom make one or several for the front triangle. I'll use the Gitane as my guide, because that is exactly what it SHOULD look like...

Not sure about the easiest way to rotate photos but I send my Iphone/Ipad photos via email to my laptop and use the photo editor to rotate and crop.
