Tallboy? I've been jonesing for a new full suspension MTB. How do you like the Tallboy? Any concerns with the shorter suspension travel than some of the trail competition like Trek or Specialized?

David. I went with the 5010C.
More cross country than anything else they offer. I like climbing better than the downhills. I'm pretty slow coming down. Sent via Jedi mind trick.

Back at it
Decided that running the distances I run can't last forever. Got back into cycling after a 28 year hiatus. Raced and rode with a club in my teen years and now back at it at age 45. Bikes have come a long way since our days on our ChroMo frames.
![]() Closer to entry level than pro level, but this bike works great for me. Very pleased with it...

My new ride, Yeti SB5c. The 27.5 inch wheels took a few rides to get used to, but now, I am in love.....it climbs like a goat and descends like no trail bike I have ridden before.
![]() ![]() if any Pelican brothers have an interest in a 2010 Pivot Mach 5 mountain bike, I will make you a great deal. PM me for info

nice..that Yeti was on my short list.
for me the biggest thing i am still getting used to are my wide-ass handlebars. had a "stooge moment" riding thru my non standard narrow back garage door. narrow passages thru trees? yeezzhs..danger!! just noticed your Kashima coating!! really nice.

thanks Vash,
I was looking at the 5010 and the Ibis Mojo too. I had wider bars on the Pivot, so I am used to that, it is the slower geometry and shorter stem that was strange the first couple of rides. The big hoops sure do roll over rocks!

While I am partial to the Santa Cruz bikes, a Yeti or an Ibis would be nice in the stable too...
Nice bike JFK.

My Trek Fuel came with wide bars that simply would not fit between trees on our local trails. (GalbraithMt.com Home Page). Rather than launching myself over the bars when they jammed between two trees I used a pipe cutter to shorten then a couple of inches. Perfect.

Nice bikes Vash and JFK... I recently joined the Yeti tribe myself..
![]() Yeti ASRC, just 3 rides in on her. Incredibly light at 23lbs, 1X drivetrain will take some getting used to, as well as the 29" wheels. I agree with both of you on the wider bars, and shorter stem. Very different feeling in the cockpit. I may bump my stem out 10mm for a little less twitchy steering.

i havent weighed mine yet..probably never will. i will however go to a 1x one day. where are you riding? where are any of the bay area guys riding? my trail in concord is about to close. bikers running down joggers is bad PR. too many complaints, so they are putting up barriers.

I ride at lake Del Valle a lot, tons of single track out there, good amount of climbing. I typically do ~15mi with ~2500ft of climbing out there. I have also ridden Pleasanton Ridge, and lots of trails over in the Los Gatos area.

Thanks Angela!
So far proving to be a good ride for me! Starting triathlon and duathlon competition with it in the spring with a goal to make our (Canadian) national team for 2017 for my age group. I think this bike will be more than enough. Cheers

kraap!
too many run-ins between mtn bikers and foot-trail users. i trail run this area too, so i am sensitive to the other joggers and i STOP my bike and let them by. i grew up in an area that practiced, "feet before seats". horses and people on foot get the right away..i dont care if i am going downhill or grinding uphill. now? rangers have moved big boulders in and put fences across key areas. next..tickets will be issued. sucks..i just bought a new bike!!! i LOVE riding out from my house and hitting the trails. i still will, but i will stay on the bike legal firetrails. they suck, but climbing is climbing. a few months ago, i almost got my butt kicked when i team of cyclist almost ran me down. my calling them names when i dove into the weeds didnt help.. i think a mom with a small child almost got hit, and that was the final straw. a fence!!!
