Would have left a strong message about what the USA can do. Instead we have exposed our weaknesses, depleted our resources, and demonstrated to the world what we CANNOT do.

Two Rivers:
Feel free to ruck up and show us how it's done... [of course not being disrespectful]... My son - a 2lt/INFANTRY recently returned from a tour - he was in Lowgar province.. he was wounded once and shot twice [body armor saved his life 2x] the ROE is very restrictive - the old days of "free fire" zones is long gone.. hell - now if you verbally call the enemy "the muj" disrespect the Taliban - some REMFs will bring you up on charges.... I leave 6 Jan for Afghanistan - see you at Dulles...

Worse than what we had in VN... and a "no win" situation.
Time to get out of there and save our people and did not feel that way until recently. Thanks for your service and stay safe over there!

Hydrocket:
Don't think I implied whether te USA /ISAF could "win" this war or not... Personally - I don't think we can "win" - because in order for us to "win" >> the Afghan people must want to win - cause it'as their war.. this is so similar to the Vietnam war - in that the indigenous people are key to the overall success of the conflict.. I would like for US forces to be pulled out on a expedited timeline > the sooner the better - leave some SOF to do what they do... but the preponderance of ground forces > get em out... It's just not worth it - for our kids getting busted up, coming home in body bags, with their limbs missing/torn, their minds damaged > not worth their wounds for the Afghans ...

Kim,
Totally agree but with one last thing. We pull out ASAP with NO notice beforehand. This BS of telling the enemy our timetable for withdrawal is sheer lunacy...
