I got totally roasted on a submarine veterans facebook page for this but give me operational control of a boomer and all the intel I need and I would end our terrorist problem in about 30 min. but that wouldn't be very smart or politically correct in this day and age. But I would feel better!

As for today's combat arms personnel? They can hold their own with any previous generation. I didn't see the tv show so can't comment on that.

Soldiers love bravado, take it as that, it's OK, at least they didn't tell you they got a bronze star from Basic Training.

What exactly have you "seen"? My colleagues do PTSD treatment research (purple funded) and I've never heard them mention this.

They want a religious fundamentalist government, and have been killing each other for hundreds of years because they don't agree on the religion. Nothing we can do will change that. We are now a welfare provider, nothing more. As soon as we leave they will go back to their old ways.

Agreed and we should have gone in, taken out the people who did not deserve to be on this earth (and who attacked America) then returned home, leaving a very strong message that if this happens again you will not get a second chance.

Alas with a country run by spineless politicians, many of whom have never worn a uniform, this will not happen...
