Even a gap in traffic that starts off fitting several semi-tractor trailers will dwindle down to nothing if you're doing 10 mph slower than the prevailing speed and make no effort to accelerate and match it. Who gets onto a highway and dawdles along at 50 mph?

What about the car that is in the right lane and decides people are merging and they should move over left into the fast lane as you come barreling down in it!

I know its not really my business but seeing people ride motorcycles without a helmet on always bugs me. Even without proper gear sort of gets me. The no helmet thing is just crazy to me. I have seen some really bad things happen to people who were barely moving on their bike. I freely admit I get the joy of no helmet and gear and as a youngster I did it. These days I don't throw a leg over without full gear and helmet.

Agreed it scares me as a driver to go anywhere near them. Like smokers they are trying to kill themselves without pulling the trigger themselves. There was a rally a few years ago nearby in Pa it was for keeping the no helmet law. Guess what somebody crashed and died because no helmet

My mom always asks questions twice at once making it impossible to answer yes or no. I still answer yes or no and let her figure it out

Plus when they suffer a non-lethal head injury we all pay either through higher insurance premiums for their medical care/rehab or if they are uninsured passed on higher medical costs to the rest of us.

I live in PA and I have been riding since I was about 12 or 13. I remember back in the 1990's when PA repealed the helmet law. Back then I thought it was fantastic. I rode frequently in jeans a T shirt and no helmet. I was pissed when I had to put my helmet on crossing into NJ.

I have seen a lot since then. I am older and wiser and I am responsible for people other than myself. Add into that the worst thing for driving since alcohol, the smart phone, and its ugly out there.

It's my pet peeve because I don't like seeing people get hurt, but I am also trying to set a good example for my son if he wants to ride some day.

Pet peeves? People who need glasses but never have them when needed. Vanity?

Motorcycle cops writing seatbelt violations.

For the record, I wear glasses and wear my seatbelt...

I guess this may not actually be a "peeve", but maybe just another example of the countless dopey things that clueless people do every single day.

When I arrived at the vet's office this afternoon to pick up my dog, there were maybe ten cars in the small parking lot. The new routine here is that you park, then call in to the front desk so a tech can bring your pet out to the car. At certain times of the day, this might mean a 15-20 min. wait, so there were people sitting in about half the cars. Today, every single one of these folks had their windows rolled up and their motors idling for at least the 15 min. that I was there. Now if it were cold out, it would make perfect sense to wait in a nice warm car, or if it were really hot, to stay cool in the A/C. That wasn't the case today. It was 73°, with a nice gentle breeze all afternoon. Instead of opening the car up to enjoy some fresh air while waiting, why would people sit with their windows all rolled up and the A/C running, while just wasting their gas on such a pleasant day?

Ironically, one huge SUV even displayed a "Keep Lake Tahoe Blue" sticker while its idling V8 needlessly added more carbon to the atmosphere.

It's not a virus thing either...I've been noticing this puzzling behavior more & more over the past few years. I see it along the beaches a lot too. Even though the ocean breeze usually keeps it very comfortable, people will park near the water, keep the windows all shut with the motor idling for the A/C, then sit there playing with their phones and completely ignore the gorgeous view.

It seems like one of those "imponderables" of everyday life that I'll probably never figure out

People that feel the need to respond “ok” to every text or email. Argh!

That actually reminds me of one of my pet peeves. Drive thru windows. Not only are they a major waste of fuel, they promote poor health. Dear God, get out of your car and walk the 10 feet to go buy your Tubs of lard supersized... I wish it was illegal to use a drive thru unless it is for medical reasons or at the drugstore to pick up a prescription. Along those lines, I see cars without handicap tags sitting and idling for 5 minutes waiting for a parking spot close to the front door at wallyworld. Same thing. When they get inside, they jump on the electric cart and the basket is usually full of per-prossessed junk food all guaranteed to keep you obese.

People in parking lots who sit in the vehicles and smoke. With the windows rolled down. So it subjects EVERYONE around them to their stinky second hand fumes.

Hell.....I've gotten to the point where I will purposely park as FAR away as possible from everyone else - just to avoid this possibility. And I really enjoy the walk knowing I just stuck it to 'em!

URY914 08-02-2020 04:30 PM

How about those gas pumps with a TV screen in them that are TOO LOUD!

I'm just buying gas, don't try to sell me crap. Let me fill my tank and be on my way.

What’s worse is when they Hot Box in the car with the windows up during a break. They come back stinking like cigarettes on overdrive.

I just walk away from the pump. I wonder if I poke a needle in the speaker, would it disable it

Hard to avoid ads these days - they're everywhere. It's annoying for sure.

Exactly! This has been mine since they were invented. Medical reasons (must display a disabled placard) parents with kids, excepted.

This tread would have been loved by Andy Rooney. “Don’t you hate it when....”

Gubment customer rights agency does chases and prosecutes such complaints

Here a forum related gripe.

A guy that makes a post asking for advice. The post get a dozen responses but the original poster never returns to respond. No comment, no thank yous, no nothing. As if he dropped off the face of the earth.

As bad as those screens are the Chevy add with the guy on the screen at the pump that they're playing endlessly on TV these days is worse.

Those Chevy adds, the ones with the guy pretending to talk to "real people" make me want to NEVER buy a Chevy.
