Pedestrians who feel the need to push the button at an intersection......and then immediately cross the intersection.

They don't even know what the button is for.

They just push it like a Pavlov rat.....

stevej37 04-13-2021 01:49 PM

I had a white rat in college that came in first place. (psychology class)
I trained it to run from one end of the cage..thru a wheel..over a bridge...push a lever and run back faster than any other rat!!
Rats and people can be trained. :)

That manufactured exhaust pop and burble on modern cars. It gets kind of tired hearing that fake stuff.

People that do not check if a stall is occupied before yanking on the door.

Is it really that hard to tell if someone is already there? Apparently so in some cases.

This one drive me nuts. Or better yet, a someone on a bike pushes the button and it takes them 3 seconds to cross and we sit and wait.

There is an intersection near my house that is fairly reasonable if a car trips the light and I have to wait at the light. If a pedestrian has to cross and pushes the button it was timed for the Tim Conway old man character that walked super slow. It must be a 45 second cross walk. Everyone comes to a stop for it.

There is one on the highway that I use when I come home. I think if the person pushes the button it is about a minute or a little more. Add to that, the 3-4 minute wait before hand. If no one pushes the button, that light turns yellow in 10 seconds.

We also have these crosswalks located along the main road on the island. No intersection......just a crosswalk. But the government here has added blinking lights that come to life when a pedestrian pushes a button. When that happens you have to by law stop. Until the pedestrian(s) clear the crosswalk.

I can't tell you how many times I'm the only vehicle headed toward one of these crosswalks when some brainless twit pushes the button. Instead of waiting 3 seconds so I can pass through...

Food expiration labels, which are in syntax instead of dates.

WPOZZZ 04-14-2021 07:38 PM

We have one near my town house. People rarely stop for that blinking light. Everytime I stop, I pray I don't get rear-ended.

Civil engineers. (apologies to those here)

Drove around randomly looking at properties FS just for fun.
One was beyond my price range but beautiful, on the water, and had everything.
So peaceful and relaxing.

The next minute a loud jackhammer went off in the distance.
The metal bridge made a racket to wake the entire zip code every time a car drove over it.

Marketing. Someone will throw it out when it is "outdated" and buy a new box.

Baz 04-16-2021 07:00 PM

Again today. Watched a person hit the crosswalk button and 3 seconds later walk across the intersection. Then another couple comes up....looks at the button....pushes it....looks around like they're not sure where they are or what they're doing.

It's the funniest thing - there's a button....let's just push it. I KNOW it will help. What kind of help - I don't know. I just know everything will be better if I push it.

How about recorded crowd noises on sports broadcasts when the stands are empty?

(Oh yeah, one other one, 2 stroke leafblowers)

Back in the day ~1967-69 in the car driver training was mandatory at my high school.
At this point I don't remember exactly what I learned but I remember I drove a new Pontiac Firebird manual 3 speed. I was pretty good with a clutch - my Dad let me drive pickups around the storage yard at his work. My high school had a 4 speed GTO and I was disappointed to not get a lesson in that. Some months later some girl drove it (GTO) into the shop building. I bet she never forgot that but may have become a better driver for the rest of her life.

It's for traceability during packaging. Like all food products QC has to be able to pinpoint when food is packaged.
And it gets you to throw out 1999 year old salt and buy new. :D
