The stand is looking good now with the x bracing. Nice shop, like the color.
Never understand why so many shops/garages are left unpainted. A little finish work and paint transform a space.
Nice job on the stand.

Cheers Richard

Fred - I realize you already made the stand (and a good looking one too) but something you might consider is movement while the machine is running. In one of the garages, have a similar Taiwan mill. Every machine has its limit's but these mills do have their place and ideal for small stuff. I've found adding some mass down low and attached to the base helps. If the legs were shortened, in place add a butcher block chunk like solid heavy wood between the mill and stand plus cast weights on the bottom greatly helps. Also, the headstock like to move lateral or pivot if those locks are not clamped down really tight. Eventually you'll find its limits and light cuts aleviate it. Overall a great machine for home shop / garage. Add a neat old Atlas or Craftsman 109 lathe and lots can be done in a small space. Have fun!

It's Here!..............

Got the new/used milling machine home Saturday night about 7:00pm. Waited until Sunday afternoon to unload it and mount it on the new stand. Put all the small bits back on that were removed for transport and have played with the controls enough to feel pretty good about making some chips. The first order of business will be to make a cutting jig to hold the metal securely. Once that is done, it will be playtime! Here's a picture.

The first order of business will be to make some more fuse panel base plates for you guys that have been waiting patiently since just before Christmas.
