Got it, I see it. I thought it was being suggested that he was opening up a second/phantom account, like DARISC does.

If you really want to go way back, I also miss Mark Szabo (old skul). His posts usually had me in stitches. Where's my cube??!!

I consider myself one of Dottore's buddies here and we've tried unsuccessfully for several years to hook up when we were in the same part of the world at the same time. But I have to say, he made the decision a while ago to exile himself from PARF and couldn't hold himself to it. I don't know why anyone gets butt hurt in PARF. I put (most of) the jerks and trolls on ignore and never have a problem or get my BP raised. Some folks just can't look or walk away and so they get bent out of shape. I doubt that's Dottore's issue, as he's a smart guy with a pretty good life in the gravity world. If he doesn't want to play in our sandbox anymore, I hope he at least responds to my PM to let us know he's alive and healthy..... at which point I'll promptly call him a poopyhead and attach a vulgar emoticon.

Seriously concerned about Dottore at this point. He's completely MIA.

I would be seriously concerned he is having more fun than me, as opposed to some sort of sinister line of thought.

He's a big boy who lives large. I hope that's what he is doing.

Has anyone here ever met him? I know he lives in Hamburg most of the time, Vancouver before that and was in Mallorca last time I was near Hamburg and tried to hook up with him. Don't have his number or email, never heard from his wife.

herr_oberst 06-14-2013 08:51 AM

I know he had a problem with a super-steep driveway; maybe he can't get to his house?

speeder 06-14-2013 01:02 PM

I do have his email and he's not responding for months. He's always responded within hours. I'm fearing the worst, hate to say it. I'd love to be wrong.

I think he re- enlisted in the RCMP and is now deep into Sniper School.

syncroid 06-14-2013 03:58 PM

He may have OD'd on my wife's Kalua Pork recipe I sent him awhile back.
Seriously. I hope he is okay. Great guy!

Just saw an older Dottore post on a bumped thread and was wondering if anyone had an update?
I always thought that his posts were entertaining and intelligent.

livi 09-07-2013 12:43 PM

I stayed away for a rather long time previously. From time to time its almost refreshing to stay off grid. I bet Dottore will be back. One of the sharpest minds in this box for sure.

Mark and I, after a very contentious beginning here on PPOT, became good friends, communicated off line and, a number of years ago, met for drinks. We drank and talked for five hours while his wife visited with one of her friends who lived nearby, and we cemented what promised to be a lifelong friendship. We made plans to meet up and spend more time together the following year when he and his wife would again be in SOCAL.

Some time thereafter, he posted here that he'd been treated for bladder cancer in Germany. He was very upbeat, had all the confidence in the world in his German medical team, and was on the road to recovery.

Some period of time later he emailed me that the cancer had returned and that he was back in the hospital. I replied with regrets and words of encouragement. I have not heard from him since; this after trying to reach him through three of his email addresses and two of his phone numbers.

This all is extremely upsetting to me as well and, I too, have been, for quite some time now, fearing the worst.

I've hesitated posting about this until now because it is such a personal matter and I hate speculating on the possible misfortune of someone I'd grown to care a great deal about as a friend.

Other than Seahawk, who I know communicated with Mark, I don't know who else to ask.

Damn. :(

if the worst has occurred, wouldn't there be an obituary somewhere?
