A friend of mine inherited one of these from her father. (Privately imported from the USA so it's LHD) Right now it's sitting under a cotton sheet in her garage. She does drive it but it doesn't come out in the colder months... And she's gorgeous but she never found the right guy. (single mum of 3)

Still the best looking car ever and apparently Lamborghini is working on an update version.

Real or replica? If real, it's obviously massively valuable. The replicas are often better cars (coilovers, overdrive...) and affordable to many mortals who can cope with the character of all Cobras (exposure, heat, LOUD, footwells suited to amputees...).

My dentist had one that he was restoring. super skilled metal, (aluminum) worker. He once told me that with the original engine, 600 hp and 1800 pounds - these cars kill people. I smiled and said, yeah, what a way to go.

There are lots of cool looking or pretty cars that are just something to park in a museum as driving them is horrible. I have ridden in a Ferrari Daytona and it was horribly HOT, loud and uncomfortable. But sure was pretty.

Same thing for a Porsche 904. Great looking car, but little bitty cramped, HOT and loud. I would love to have either one stored in a climate controlled facility, as my investment, it will never happen.

Every single time I see it in my garage I smile. It is wonderful to drive, and it has tripled in value since I bought it. I can drive it on 5,000 mile journeys and it just runs and drives great. Not just a pretty face, but a fun toy to boot.

While I previously gave my opinion - the incomparable E-type - this American icon deserves to be mentioned in any discussion of the height of automotive styling excellence. To this day, the "shield" grille remains iconic. (Of course, it doesn't look complete without some guys in dark suits leaning pointing tommy guns out the windows, but what the heck...)

It's not always about the swooply lines and streamlining of GT and sports cars.

My thanks to drcoastline for the photographic reminder. The M-B 280SE Cabrio is a personal favorite.

I saw one "in person" recently and I was truly gobsmacked. The car just defines posh.

I am seriously considering starting the search to make one of these my own. The only problem - and it is a very big one - is that I would have to sell my 911 to make garage space. (It is unfortunately impossible for my garage to be physically expanded.)
