Wonder how bad her reaction would have been if you were driving a well set-up 944? Oh!

IMHO if you want equality, fine. Go stand on your own two feet and succeed or fail on your own merits or lack thereof. THAT'S equality.

One of the phrases I heard about 30 years ago is "You are exactly where you decided to be." You and everyone else have made decisions every single hour and all day long that directly affect your life. That really starts about age two. If you make bad decisions on a regular basis your life will suck.

Some decisions are major early in life and impossible to reverse. If you are 15 and decide to have sex and risk parenthood you have made a major decision that will affect the rest of your life.

Obviously serious health issues that are not lifestyle based are a wild-card, but for the vast majority of reasonably healthy people it is a valid phrase.

For many it is human nature to resent someone who is more successful.
To feel jealousy, envy, anger, even though people of character tend to stifle these immature irrational feelings.
It's as if some people feel that if someone else has something, they can't have it.
As if it was taken from them somehow.

Others tend to celebrate the success of others, to admire it, appreciate it, to strive to match that success and use successful people as a role model.

Can't say much more about those who can't control these negative feelings without PARFing this all up.

Yep, and punish the successful, either irrationally laugh at their misfortune or tax them into oblivion.

Getting visibly worked up over other people's material things is petty as hell, then again so is obvious consumption- like double parking your brand new car...

Just an observation... Some of you seem just as angry and resentful as that woman. Just saying. Ironic you guys are judging her and some of you are exhibiting the same type of behavior in a different way.

Success and happiness is as individual as what ice cream flavor you prefer. Don't assume that everyone is envious of your car, money, wealth. This woman obviously defined her success and happiness by money. And those of you that have defined her as an idiot, yes, she is. But I think she's an idiot because if she defines her level of success by what the guy two blocks from her is driving, she will never be happy no matter what she is driving. And a ten minute conversation on her front lawn isn't going to change her philosophy on life. Good if he did that to make himself better but yeah, don't think that event changed her life any.

And I wholeheartedly believe in Glen's post. You are exactly what you decide to be. The only difference between people who fail and people who don't is that the people who succeed don't accept failure. They see it as a bump in the road. Something to overcome. Something to improve upon. Something to try again. Something you need to experience before you hit the jackpot. Basically they don't give up. They don't stop. They don't flip the bird to the guy driving the Porsche down the street. They keep their eye on THEIR prize. Not somebody else's.

And Porsche-o-phile, a woman must have scorned you good because every time an opportunity arises, you really let it be known that women take advantage of men and think their husband's money is their entitlement. Glen's little saying is true the other way around too. Other people are exactly what you think they are. If all you see are gold diggers, well, that's exactly what you will find. Partially self-fulfilling prophecy on their part and partially pre-conceived ideas on your part. I really hope you have met or will meet a woman that can change your mind that not all women are like that. And I mean that not in a sarcastic or mean way. I mean it in a way where I hope you can find happiness where you don't feel like that anymore.

One is provoked, the other isn't. Voicing feedback on someone's odd situation isn't exhibiting anger, it's sharing an opinion.

There are certain absolutes, unprovoked lashing out at others for just having more crosses that line.

Fwiw... I was at the car wash one day and could hear the PWT in the beater ford nearby talking about me being the spoiled little rich prick washing daddy's car...

I could have done as wayne did and confront them about, and all I would have accomplished is wasting some ofy time. They wouldn't have believed me anyways if I told them how I worked my ass off to get that car, and then to make it that nice...

Or I could just go on with my day, and go enjoy what I have, and no worry about what other people think...

Guess what I did? It's just not worth it.

Most of us have done things of which we are not proud and I don't know anybody who hasn't had a bad day. I can't condone waving the bird either. However, the woman did apologize and stated that he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Furthermore, she was honest with her feelings at the time. Hopefully, the waves in the future will be more friendly. Good luck.

Geez, lighten up Francis.

I married a woman who works hard, loves cars, music and considers diamonds to be cutting tools. Not sure what you did wrong.
