Lexus IS 250 C buyers remorse

So I picked up a 2011 IS 250 convertible CPO that my wife and I looked at and bought in one day, not my usual style. I have had it for two weeks and drove it about 400 miles and just don't like it. It's OK but I just don't love it. For $36,000 I should be happy. There is nothing wrong with it it's just so damn boring and plain. If I had to make the choice again only two weeks later, no way would I have purchased it.

Now, what to do? It's still on dealer plates, not even registered yet. My wife will kill me, but being tall it's just a bit tight inside and it's really getting to me.

Did I screw up,probably. Now what do you guys think is the best course of action for me to take?

Thanks guys!

who's car is it? Yours or hers?

Yours? You're gonna get punished trading it back in, hers- leave it alone..

It's mine but she drives a Jeep GC. Maybe I'll ask her to switch with me. She is much smaller than me. Oh well.

ya, best solution- better fit for her anyhow.

Maybe trade the GC if you aren't into it?

Life is too short to agonize over it-

So you lose a couple bucks by trading/selling but you wont look back after the sharp sting. We all make mistakes and sometimes they cost money. No one was hurt in the process. Go talk to the dealer first and see what you can work out, just be straight out about it. They will either talk to you or want to rake you over the coals. If the latter then sell privately or go to another dealer. When you buy a new car you should have an ear to ear grin unless you are buying a mini van.

go get what you want period.

Not to sound like a jackass, but it *is* basically a re-badged Camry.....

36K should get you a nice BMW or MBZ.

Yeah, thats fine. My wifes RX330 is basically a rebadged Camry. And after 10 years of being parked outside and nearly 70k miles, its given us next to zero trouble. Incredibly reliable.

Is it boring? Yes. But after 10 years of ownership, I would say Lexus products are a good value proposition.

Or just sell it, give the buyer a good deal chalk it up to an expensive lesson, 400 MI and just say it isn't you..

Someone will take it with 400 MI on it, you won't get new money but it'll be gone. Better that than living with it for 5 years and taking the depreciation hit...

Yeah, but it is still a boring Toyota.

Don't get me wrong -- Toyota makes near perfect cars - perfectly reliable, perfectly sound, perfectly safe. And perfectly BORING.

Last time they made an exciting car, IMHO, was the MR2 MKII. Now that was a fun car.

(Comments above do not apply to the Lexus LFA supercar)

Looks like he bought it used (CPO). 2011 model. So probably has more than 400 miles on it.

I will never buy a Toyota or Honda--and that means Lexus and Acura too. They are the most bland, soul-less cars on the planet. Owning one would suck my will to live. Sadly, Volkswagon seems to be headed in that direction, but at least they have other divisions that still make cool cars.

French cars on the other hand have tons of character...but they are something like a dirty uncle with tourettes...memorable but for all the wrong reasons.

I bought a brand new CR-V, ended up being bored stiff, sold it to Carmax with 1500 miles on it. Lost a chunk of money, but live and learn. Leased a BMW X1 and totally love it.

Mistakes happen and life is short.

Try talking to the dealer first. If they can cancel the sale and refund the tax, that would be best. Expect a restocking fee, but I doubt they'll do that unless you buy something else from them.

Have you ever driven a Lexus IS350? I have an '08 with the paddle shift and it's plenty fun to drive in tiptronic mode. It's most definitely not a Camry or Accord. The thing's got some character. I had a new '07 FJ Cruiser and that was an absolute blast too.

I had it that the Lexus ES series is the one on the Camry platform. Perhaps there are others.

A dealer has no obligation to take it back. I agree with Legion on Japanese cars as I won't buy one either - no soul. But Hyundai and Kia have learned well and their designs are interesting - certainly not boring.

I would suspect if you are driving on dealer tags that technically it is still the dealers car. One reason may be that they have not received a title for the car from the lein holder. In Pa a dealer can not sell a used car unless they have the title. If this is the case return it for a refund.

In CA a buyer can buy a cancellation option. It's not cheap and it's rarely purchased.

Interesting. I'd be curious what "dealer tags" means. I assumed it meant temporary registration. Worth checking with the CT DMV. I doubt this has much chance of being an out, though.
